Default Bra Question

I'm contemplating getting a Stretch Bra for my 2010 GS, but it bothers me that I "think" the Bra will wrap around (under) the chin splitter..........
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if that's the case, the first time I scrape the splitter, I've trashed the Bra....??

Am I correct??............

Thanks,

Tom

Bras don't seem to be popular in these forums. Not sure why. I thought about a 'leather' bra but they trap moisture so you can't leave it on the car. I've heard negative things about clear bra coatings, as well.

I am now on my second stretch bra. I replaced the first one as it was getting old and looked worn all the way around. I did lightly scrap the under side if the splitter once, and it left a lighter colored area on the bra but not to bad.

If you scrap occasionally, it would be a problem. Seems like the instructions with the Novi stretch bra warn you about this.

I use one when I travel long distances, then take it off when I get to where I'm going. Let someone else pay for their paint chips; I'll pass.

I used one on my c5 for over ten years. Used it for long trips and track use. Took it off if it start raining. It was a speed lingerie and pretty durable and my car was lowered. When I sold the car my front end was almost perfect. I'd say as cheap as the stretch one's are it's worth a try.

I have a 427 with the huge splitter in the front and I have a bra for it that I only use for long trips. But I was pulling out of a friend's driveway one day and scraped the front, and it did put a hole in it. It's a stretch bra, but not like the NoviStretch bras on the market today. Mine is more of a stretchy nylon. It did make a hole, but not a big one, and it's hidden under the splitter anyhow. Believe me, that thing has saved my front end a few times when I'm behind a big truck and things got tossed up. But that's the only time I use it.

Might be because they don't look very good. And if you happen to get one that doesn't ride nice and snug you could even get paint damage from all the flapping at highway speeds. Some use them on long trips only and I assume that they have checked the fit to be sure they aren't getting any damage. Seems like the way to go these days is to have that clear vinyl wrap put on. I would imagine that one could get it put on as far up as they wanted or over the whole hood....

I'm in the no bra group. while I know the reasons why it is used,
I feel that the price of driving is a few chips & nicks now and then.
even with a bra, you will not be able to avoid all foreign objects.
that's why I would never but a car from barrett-jackson or mecums
( or maybe it's the fact that I couldn't afford them? ). if I felt that I that getting a chip or dent would devalue my car, I just wouldn't drive it.

give a real driver any day!

let it run free!

Thanks for all the replies.............I'm NOT a Bra guy either,*I don't really like the look, but I'm thinking for long trips it may be worthwhile.........

* Although, I did have one for my Mustang GT that I used mainly for long trips. I owned that GT for 26 years, and ran the Bra off and on over that time. I did tear it on a parking curb once , but it never created any paint damage, but it didn't live on the car and never got wet.

Thanks to all for the replies.

Keep my speed lingerie atomic orange bra on all car show season and it protects the nose beautifully and draws a lot of attention at the shows. One time I didn’t put it on and this happened It only takes one time! Bra never comes off now unless it gets wet or it’s stored for the winter. Learned my lesson.

I've had 2 Nova-Stretch Bras, one for my old C5 and one for the C6 Grand Sport. I only use them on trips and never around town. I've gotten good service out of both of them.

I'm in the process of planning a trip in may, heading cross county
( from SF, ca. north to ID-MT-mt. rushmore-INDY-Toledo-bowling green ((wink!wink!))- then head back via rte-66-vegas-home ).
to be honest with you, I never once thought about using a bra.
from a looks standpoint, my windshield is way more chewed up then
the front end. I'm sure the front end has a lot of damage that I can not easily see, but not enough that I bugs me.

the only time I would ever think of installing a bra, is if I had a black car. even then, I'm pretty confident I wouldn't.
if you don't want any damage, or cosmetic issues, then park it.

again, on these subjective inquires, the universal answer is, and always will be, go with what you like. you can weigh the opinions all
you want. bottom line, if it works for you, then that's your answer!

Xpel Ultimate clear bra - it costs a lot more, but it was worth the cost to me. 20,000 miles since installing the Xpel and the front still looks showroom new.

I got a great deal on the GM one for the car and I use it quite a lot. It works great and keeps countless chips off the front. I particularly use it on longer trips and interstates.

I do have a couple rules though. Once it comes off both it and the car get washed before it goes back on and it only goes on a clean nose.

I agree with using the "Speed Lingerie", it's best bra you can buy. Fits snug and comes in same color as your car. Don't even know its on there unless your up close and looking for it. I use it on long trips. Drove with it on for two days of solid rain and too it off when I got where I was going. No problems with it at all.
