Default Harmonic balancer

I have a 2011 GS with 15,800 miles on it. The balancer is failing, will GM help on this repair. Looks like a common problem. Thanks

They sure will. Go to your nearest Chevy dealer, give them $1200 and they will give you all the help you need.

They didn't help me and I was out of time by a month on the 5 year limit
Went with a PowerBond PB1117S done by a local shop and all is good, I'm out about $900 all told with new belts, seal, bolt and balancer

Here is a thought ...

If your going to have the harmonic balancer replaced, that would be the time to spend just a few extra dollars and have the new HB pinned.

At a later date, [if] you ever decide to install a supercharger, you will be so very glad you had your HB pinned while it was being replaced.

A big part of the supercharger install labor is having the HB pinned.

Something to think about ...

Unless you have a extended warranty that will cover the cost of the repair, the OEM HB did what is was supposed to do, being get through the normal warranty period, then fail so you would have to take the car back to the dealer so they can get more money out of you for repairs after the initial sale.
Note; term is called planned obsolescence, and goes all the way back to the first light bulbs.

So if you are having to pay for the HB replacement, have a PowerBond PB1117SS (with it's front and back reinforcements to prevent it from wobbling long term) installed that is not going to fail instead.

I agree with Turbo6TA's pinning recommendation. I have a S/C and about to replace my HB for the third and LAST time. I've decided to go with the ATI rather than the PowerBond, and it will be secured with their pinning kit. If you're interested, here are the parts I'll be ordering for my LS2:

ATI Performance Products 917266 GM LS 7.480 Harmonic Damper - SFI
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019XETR20/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I23PIXMVN3YILT&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019XETR20/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I23PIXMVN3YILT&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0

ATI Performance Products 918993 Crank Pin Drill Fixture Kit
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003NFBPBM/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2XIZ9G59TWUXX&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003NFBPBM/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I2XIZ9G59TWUXX&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0

ARP 2342503 Stud Kit (a.k.a. Big *** Bolt -- better than the one-time OEM bolt)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D0MJNC/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I699KD78EIAH5&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001D0MJNC/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I699KD78EIAH5&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0

Optional: Timken 100470 Crankshaft Seal
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JZWYUA/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3QLS5S0QG4X8G&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JZWYUA/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3QLS5S0QG4X8G&colid=10N4BCOTC3Y6Z&psc=0

All four items total $563.43, which is not really that bad since you'll never need to spend another dime on an HB. The OEM HB typically lasts only five years, which is conveniently just beyond the expiration of most warranties.
