They say that to the "purest", a car is not a sports car unless the top drops. I agree with that to some extent, but not completely. My honest assessment of the looks is that the coupe does look better along side a vert with the top up. But when you put the top down on the vert then it becomes a different story. But I still must admit that overall the coupe is better looking than a vert even with the verts top down, but it is so close that you couldn't get a @#$% hair between the difference. Color comes into play a lot. Something about a black or red Corvette vert that just says gorgeous !!! Mines a vert and i'll never go back to a coupe unless I start buying more than one....LOL.....
I started with a C5 coupe. I did not like the air pulsating with the targa off. I now have a C6 vert and would not go back to a coupe. You just have to learn to take less with you because of the limited storage space.
Nothing like driving a convertible c6 in the summer, especially if you live somewhere that has 4 seasons. Add the power top, it goes up and down when you want, with little fuss!
I've had a couple verts and had a targa top cars years back. I opted for the Z06 hard top this time around. The targa top was nothing but work. I didn't want to park car with targa top in hatch baking the interior while I was at work, or I had to put them back in when parked outside for long periods. Try going shopping with top in hatch then realize that you have no place to put you shopping goods, so you have to put the tops back in, only to get back home to drop stuff off, take tops back out so you can do some more errands with tops out. Try taking the tops out and leaving them home to have room for storage and get caught in the rain. Been there done that! Vert is your best option, but not for me. Still bake your interior while at work, so top goes up at work, top down for lunch, top down when back at work, top down for drive home. I did that on two verts, wore both vert motors out on two different cars I've owned one hater slashed the top on one and someone threw a cigarette but in the other and burned a hole in the seat, damn haters. Thanks for making me remember that!
Buy what you want, but since you asked, I don't like convertibles. They don't look good up. They are noisier. They have less storage space. They are easier to break into. The roof will go bad eventually. They are colder in the winter and hotter in the summer. They leak. They cost more. Insurance may be higher. I don't like riding with the top down.
I'd be even happier with a Z06 fixed roof, no seals or squeaks.
This will ruffle some feathers so I begin with each person is entitled to their own opinion.
That said, the vert is a feminine looking car, the coupe is more aggressive looking, a more serious looking muscle car.
For me, that's the only reason I didn't consider a vert. I love the open air which is why I had to have the targa top.
Either way I'm sure you'll do what's best for you. Good luck.
Well you ain't gonna ruffle my feathers...but let me ask this....do you think a 1967----427 Cobra is a "Feminine" looking car ??......inquiring minds want to know.....
Top down and still room for the golf clubs in the trunk with without the worry of a removable top. Cool morning trip to the golf course with the heater on and the heated seats on and top down is a great way to start the day!

LOL....Mines got a power top and I wish it went up and down without a fuss. My top has the "Corvette Cheapness" blues.....but thats for another thread.....
My C5 was my first convertible. My only complaint was accessing the space behind the seat. It would have been nice to be able to move the waterfall temporarily and then swing it back in to position. Minor issue. I loved having a convertible. My ex-wife hated it. "My hair, my hair is blowing all over the place"

No sir! I believe there are exceptions to every rule, especially when the rule isn't really a rule, just some dude's opinion. On rare occasions a car would look ridiculous with a hardtop, and the 427 Cobra is a good example.
To illustrate an example in the other direction... this looks like a chick car to me:
Hello all. New to the forum. I am in the market for a 2008 -2010 C6. Really leaning towards a convertible. Other than the looks of the coup vs vert top up, what are some of the reasons for those who don't go with the convertible? If I look at coups, the market opens up a little more.
I did not want nor did I buy a vert. For one thing, as others already mentioned, the coupe looks much better. The fastback defines it.
Plus, after riding motorcycles for 45 years I got tired of wind, noise, bee stings, and heat. I'm lovin' climate control and a quiet ride, although I do take the top off a few times a year on warm summer evenings.
I started the corvette buying experience 2 years ago thinking only coupes. Didn't even search for verts. Then saw a vert that had everything else I wanted at a good price. Didn't even put the top down before I bought it. Now when I drive it it's almost exclusively down except for longer road trips and I love it. So easy to put it up if needed. With our weather it's never too hot to have the top down. If I every upgrade, I'll only be looking at verts!
My main hobby gets me way more sun exposure than I should have so a convertible was never a consideration. Top down, convertable's look great. Top up (which is what I see 90% of the time), the 'vert just doesn't do it for me. That big back window says "Corvette" to me and you lose that with a convertible.
As a former motorcycle nut for 30 years I felt a convertible would be the most enjoyable!
Guess what,,,I was right!!
Love the feeling while driving with the top down!
