Top Down driving
Car looks great with the top down
The waterfall looks cool
Cons of a convertible-
Top fabric upkeep and wear
Car does not look so great with the top up
Cabin not as quiet with the top up
Cannot use on a racetrack
Pros of a coupe-
Targa top on of off, it looks great
Glass and paint are more durable and look nicer than fabric
The teardrop back glass is classic
More luggage space
quieter ride
I had an '89 with the hardtop. I didn't have it on often but it changed the looks dramatically when I did.
As for those comments about the coupe being quieter...not, unless the top is down. The rear window being 'iconic' or 'classic'...not, just a big green house.
I think this is a great look:

And this is an interesting look"
I would of bought one if GM produced vettes with that option.
My wife kept showing me pictures of C6 verts when I was looking for my Inferno Orange GS. She's a big convertible person & constantly reminisces about her M3 convertible that got t-boned & totaled 10 years ago. So I bought her a Wrangler Unlimited - best of both worlds, we have something to throw all the mountain or road bikes on and hit the trails plus a hardtop for winter (our brutal winter in TX ) and a soft top for the rest of the year that can be put up or down in a matter of seconds. I can also pull the full doors off for summer & put the trail doors on. Plus the kids love the Jeep & we can fit more of them in the Jeep than the Vette
My very first car, when I first started driving in 1965 was a 1958 Chevy Impala convertible, and my current C6 is a ragtop, and a good percentage of mostly GM cars in between also were convertibles! I even used to drive them in the dead of winter with the top down, and the heat cranked up when I lived up north!
Did I say that I love convertibles! I had to wait until I moved to Florida to get the C6. Almost forgot what a wonderful experience driving with the top down is
I started with a C5 coupe. I did not like the air pulsating with the targa off. I now have a C6 vert and would not go back to a coupe. You just have to learn to take less with you because of the limited storage space.

I had a C5 coupe, loved it. Never owned a Vert before.
This time around, while getting a C6, I wanted a different feel/look. I am so happy with the Vert. Trunk is half the size, but learn to pack small bags - a fun car though...
As a former motorcycle nut for 30 years I felt a convertible would be the most enjoyable!
Guess what,,,I was right!!
Love the feeling while driving with the top down!
I have to disagree. I've put over 300,000 miles on motorcycles. So when I am in a vehicle, I like it quiet. I prefer to not listen to all the wind noise.
