Right ... for $299.00 I guarantee it's not an OEM or OE glass

Other manufacturers bend the glass but for most the fit and finish is questionable at best ....

And what type of Urethane adhesive are they using?

All questions that should be asked ......

When I picked it up there were no make/model identifying stickers. But the HUD displays perfectly and for two years there have been no leaks. You can "suppose" all you like, but for $299 I got everything I needed. :-)

I get it .... believe me I do , but there is so much more to consider with a windshield installation other than price or not having a water or air leak .. or the HUD displays correctly , heck u don't even need a HUD windshield to have a HUD display correctly ....

Did you know that the passenger side airbag, if it were to go off, hits the windshield at over 250 MPH .......imagine if the wrong adhesive or primers were used ... or did the installer even use primers ... did he or she apply them properly ? Did the primers properly flash before application of the urethane ? Did the installer use gloves so oils from his or her hands did not contaminate the surface of the glass ?

Did you know that the windshield is also a structural part of the car and is one of the most important parts that allow the Corvette to pass the Federal FMS vehicle roll over and roof crush tests # 208 , 212 and 214 ??
Most people don't think about these facts as they are unaware and strictly shop for a windshield replacement by price only
price is not always everything

$299 deal ..... I would question the quality of that glass part ....not a shot is it OEM or OE ( APTECH ) and the brand of urethane that was used to install .....

None of the windshields I've replaced on my cars over the years have been over $200-250. And that's coming to my place to change it out. Granted, no HUD but C6 doesn't have it either.

I've never heard that there was any difference in the quality of glass, whether OEM vs GM supplier glass. Even if there was a difference, the glass gets sandblasted at such a quick rate that the quality differences would never be realized.

2005 windshield is pitted from all the dust and grit in our environment. I went to a local body shop that I trust and ask them about filling the various pits and they responded that I had to chips that I should get sealed so they don’t spread but all the others are fine. Maybe not optically perfect but nothing to worry about.

Windshield price varies a lot by model and depends a lot on the complexity of the glass , the bend , the yield , what attachments such as ONSTAR , heated park area , rain senor , driver assist etc are mounted to or made into the glass . also what interlayer is used as some are "acoustic" windshields , which result in a much quieter cabin .

Price is also based on production numbers , a Ford F150 , one of the highest production vehicles will most of the time cost you less than say a low production C6 Corvette

There is no difference in GM Supplier glass = OE and OEM , that is what is meant by the terminology OEM ( Original Equipment Manufacturer ) or OE ( Original Equipment ) other than one has the GM insignia which you pay a heck of a lot more for and the OE does not have the insignia they are both made by the same company on the same line with just different silk screens , one has the GM logo and the other does not

The OE manufacturer for a C6 is AP tech

Now After Market Windshields = OEE Original Equipment Equivalent , there is a HUGE difference in quality , what interlayer do they use , is the shading consistent throughout the glass , are they using state of the art bending ovens , who is making the attachments .... what type of product are they using for the ceramic frit coat , does it match the rest of the car glass ... is the frit material compatible with the urethane adhesive, any of the above can cause fit and distortion issues

There are some good OEE manufacturers such as PILKINGTON and ZYG and there are some really bad OEE such as XYG, Benson and Criminex .....its hit or miss with these brands

Just ask any glass installer or company how the quality of a PGW windshield , which was once state of the art and the gold standard has dropped to the bottom of the barrel

I just replaced mine last week for 430.00
If mine didn't have the black box thing onthe window it would have been about 80.00 less.
