I have always assumed this was limited to classic hotrod type cars but after a little research I was wrong. Looks like a good time. Will put it on my list of road trips I would like to do. Would like to hear your thoughts after doing it. Or better yet keep us posted along the trip.

Walmart is your friend. 10x10x20 soft duffel bags fit well. You will be on the road over a week so you will need quarters to do laundry at least once. Don’t over pack. You can wear a pair of shorts/cargo pants twice before laundry. Fresh shirt/T-shirt daily fresh drawers daily. (Don’t like turning them inside out for an extra day use).

It isn’t that difficult.

My wife and I do multiple state, multiple week road trips annually. Your wife doesn’t need a hair dryer, they are in the motels. We do three bags plus a cosmetic bag where her makeup and my shaving stuff goes. One is designated for an overnight bag that goes into the motel each night along with the cosmetic bag. The motel bag is packed with drawers and next day’s clothes. Next morning it gets packed for the following night. No more difficult than you make it.

Have a great time on the HRPT. Touch base with Sky 65 (Tom). He has long hauled at least four times with his bride. He can advise on packing a midyear vert.

All hotel reservations are made and we're ready to roll. Wife mentioned taking the Tail of the Dragon on the way home. So looking forward to that as well. We'll be driving right at 3000 miles round trip. I'm sure a case of monkey butt will set in, but it'll be worth it..... Probably need a another week off to recoup,

Sure hope it’s a bit cooler than last year. Was brutal and took some fun out of it. Took convertible last year. Had to put top up by 10 am due to heat. I did have to stop and buy some shorts as the ones I had planned to wear two days were too sweaty for me to wear a second day. We long hauled last year but since we live in the center of this years route, we will probably tour the first couple of days and the last two. Get a good hat and a cooler. Have fun.

I long hauled in 2014 with my son in my 78AE. Space was limited but manageable. biggest problem was lack of space for tools, chairs, cooler etc. Only the important stuff would fit. Everything else you buy on the road at convenient store prices. Make sure your car is ready to run. If your driving an older vet, drive it over the next few weeks to get the bugs out. In 2014, HRPT put 3500 miles on my car round trip. Also, hit the road early so you don't get stuck in huge traffic jams in 90 degree weather. This year, I'm long hauling in my 68 Olds convertible w/o AC. Bottom line is: If the weather is good and your car runs well, you'll have a great time.

We Long Hauled from 2008 to 2013. Drove the 69 Camaro SS 3 times, the 69 Corvette Roadster 2 times and the 1999 Corvette convertible once. If you are careful you can pack enough for the trip for two people. A friend of ours would UPS the dirty clothes back to the house to make room for t-shirts and other items they picked up along the way. Hope everyone has a safe and fun trip.

Just remember the tour goes right through the middle of lots of small towns along the way. These towns only have a few red lights, but they are not timed for a thousand plus cars going through town about the same time. Creates big traffic jams. It’s nice to see the locals in their lawn chairs watching the parade of neat cars, but not so much sitting in traffic for a long time. Make sure you can find some back roads to avoid traffic back up. Have fun, see you there.

Your friend thinks like me, send home dirty clothes making room for items I buy along the trip.
I once even mailed care packages to Motels waiting for with fresh clothes and then mailing dirty clothes home.
What ever works for you, but driving Corvette with limited space, that works for me!
