Seat Swap ???

You considering swapping? I'm typically one who makes upgrades when new model years make changes. But the seat change in '12 is just one thing I can't bring myself to do. It's not that big of a change for the work involved, there's very little difference in feel, and I actually like the look of the '11s. I did the seat rebuild, and considering I drive my car only about six thousand miles a year, it would end up being more of a psychological OCD change than one of practicality.

If not then I would keep mine and rebuild when the time comes And then the age old question, do I go stock look or match the diamond pattern I've started, like just in the inserts, hmmm ??

The seat foam is $75 for the seat back and $67 for the seat bottom, I just ordered some for my driver's seat for when my new seat skins come in. Can't tell you how different it is from a <'12 as I haven't driven one, but I think my seats are pretty comfortable even without the power side bolsters.

I've just read here that the 12 -13 seats were so much better but I've never been in one either, mine are fine but maybe someday I'd like to match the inserts with the diamond pattern

I did the swap. Foams and covers - no seat frame changes.
Not a significant difference in feel. The biggest change I made with the swap was getting the alcantara inserts, which have helped a lot with sliding around in the seat on the track. Otherwise it is 98% a cosmetic change, IMO.

I got some ZR1 skins with the alcantara inserts and new foam should be in today. Hopefully will have time in the next week to install it and was hoping for a good bit of difference but looking like it won't make that much difference (after reading here). Will be nice to have fresh foam in the 2010 GS though.

Same frames for the C-6 model run.
When I was looking at making the conversion it was going to cost about $2K for the foam and skins from GM. I could not find the skins from any other vendor. does anyone have an alternate source?

Foams were same color when I got mine, but that was a relatively long time ago - 2013 probably.

The new foams are black & the new seat back foam has extra cloth built in where if goes over the side bolster presumably to avoid the plastic tearing through the foam.

The newer style seats may or may not be more comfortable to you. If you have wide shoulders and are tall enough for them to rest in that widened area, that will be a benefit. If your butt is wider the more flat seat cushion might also be more comfortable.

This is the only benefit to me, I have a 31" waist but my shoulders are large and touch the door/window when closed, that little extra meat gave some more comfort but the feel is pretty much the same.
