Default Door goes flying open !

So I'm driving my 07 and getting on the interstate and my door comes open doing 60 mph , I didn't hit the button to open it . WTF !!! It usually will not open unless it's in park . Has this happen to anyone else ? If so what was the problem ?

Did you hit the ejection seat button by accident?

That button launches the roof panel off the car. It doesn't make the door fly open.

Have you not watched F&F 2? It opens the door and shoots them out the side. This isn't James Bond after all; that's just too far-fetched.

I only saw the first F&F so I didn't know about that button.

The air pressure at 60 mph should prevent the door from opening easily.

It uses a half empty bottle of NOS to blow the door open, break the bolts holding the seat into the car, and shoots the seat out of the door opening. It's much more realistic than a spring loaded seat that shoots out of the roof with a rocket boost on it. Come on now.

All kidding aside, this needs to be tracked down to its root cause and fixed. When the car is not in Park, there should be no power available to the door latch solenoid. Pressing the white dot button should do nothing. The door should open only when the solenoid is powered and energized by either:

(1) pressing the white dot button inside or
(2) squeezing the finger pad on the outside

This could become a very serious safety hazard if you take a freeway on ramp at any significant speed and the door popped open. If I were you, I would take it to a dealer you trust and have them look into it.

I've heard of this happening on hard right turns. Were you resting your left leg on the door?? Gotta use that dead pedal!

Is it possible thst the door was not full closed. Flexing at speed would allow a door not latched correctly to open.

Replace your exterior pads - they are cheap and probably could use a refresh anyways.

Yeah, pretty much.

Unless the OP was leaning up on the door and pulled the emergency release on the floor and pushed the door open, it isn't opening at 60mph.

Test the system.
Start car, close doors, shift to 1st, press the door open button.
Did it open?
Start car, close doors, shift to 1st, press the FOB unlock/ open button.
Did it open?
Start car, close doors, shift to 1st, pull the emergency release handle.
Did it open?

Inspect the emergency release handle and cables.
Any work ever done on the quarter B pillar or inside the door?

If all the above check out...I'd bet your pants cuff or shoe caught the release handle and the door opened.

Good luck.

Oh take it eezynow! I've just never heard of that happening before-ever. I suppose you could have it scanned for codes and see if anything unusual shows up or just give the latch a good inspection and make sure it works properly.
