if you have an automatic - it is likely the solenoid inside the shifter has failed. Some claim you can rebuild the shifter unit, I have not had any success and just replaced the whole unit. Not a tough job to do , just pricey. this is a common issue with the C6 corvette with an automatic transmission .

No. I can start the car which means it is in Park, but once started I can move the gear shifter in to Reverse, Neutral, and Drive but the car does not respond to anything.. Gear shifter moves freely but is still in park. I think the bushing has come lose at the shifter.
