To answer your question, there is a plastic bushing at each end of the shift cable. If one of them is broken, you can just replace the broken bushing.
This is likely your problem is your shifter is moving freely without actually shifting gears. If one bushing has snapped, keep in mind that the other end may soon follow.
If your car is stuck in park, you have a different problem
Had my cable replaced at the dealer last week and now after only driving about 60 miles The shift doesn’t line up correctly again . What could be causing it to go out of adjustment?

You paid good money for a poor job. Take it back and make them fix it correctly.
I have had both bushings break. First check the cable connection at the transmission. If it is connected then check the shifter. the transmission is the easiest to check, just jack the rear up so you can get under it. The cable attaches on the drivers side of the transmission. You can by the grommet kit at Advanced Auto for less then $10.
I replaced mine from inside the car. I removed the center console surround and then the 4 bolts that hold the shifter.
