Hate to say it, but the vet drive was not paying attention, impaired, and/or driving way too fast isntead.
Truth is, the Vet will out brake about 90% of the cars on the road, and even if the driver in front did a total brake lock up, the vet driver tailing too close to the car in front of him, the Vet should have out braked the car in front of him even with normal reaction time. So what happens more often, is the car behind vet ends up slamming into the back end of the vet, since it can not stop as fast as the vet instead.

I'm not seeing any damage to the rear panel of the Vette, or the front of the car behind it. Admittedly, my eyesight has always been poor. Are you seeing something I'm not?

They could’ve been stopped and the Vette got rear ended & pushed into/under the car in front of it. That happened to my wife just a couple months ago. She was car #2 at a red light & a lady was on her phone & slammed into my wife at 45 mph slamming my wife into the truck in front of her.
The absence of skid marks (from car #3) & the persistence of my wife got her out of the ticket the Officer was trying to write her for hitting the truck in front of her. The completely smashed in tail gate on our car helped convince him too.

Not seeing any damage to the rear bumper cover, or the lower valance, nor the car behind the vet, so this is one screaming vet driver error all the way.
But could have been the master cylinder recall problem on a M6 that failed, and cause the vet to jolt under the car in front of it instead. We Know that GM issued a TSB recall for a reason, and this may have been one those type accidents/ reason for the TSB recall in the first place. The only glitch to this thinking since i can not see any tire marks (which could be back under the red car behind the two cars), if that did happen, would have burn out marks from when the car master cylinder failure lunged and went under the car in front of him instead.
Maybe the car on top rolled off the roll back onto the C6. The guy driving the C6 may have been a little too close and the car on the rollback may have not been tied down properly.
How could the first car have caused a chain reaction crash? If the Corvette was not following too closely it would not have hit the car. Maybe the car behind the Corvette hit it while it was stopped, driving it under the car sitting on top of the Vette. Seems much more likely to me. At least the article indicates noone was injured.
Uhhh....if the car behind the Vette hit it hard enough to drive it completly under the front car, the rear of the vette would be really smashed,I think.
Also, the car behind the vette has a slightly raised hood, but not as bad as I would think.
