Default Finished (for now)

Started working on the remaining maintenance and license plate holder last Friday - finished today. Installing the TopFlight removable holder was more or less straightforward, except that as far as I'm concerned, I installed the baseplate exactly as documented, yet it ended up around 1/4" too deep, so the removable part couldn't be pushed far enough in to engage the studs. Easily solved by drilling two more holes in the removable section, so maybe it was my bad. Maybe.

Bit of sun glare on the pic, but you get the idea of how it looks now:

Part of the install was to apply pressure on the baseplate for at least 5 minutes, so I used a scissor jack and an external support to apply pressure. I left it there for an hour 3 times: left side, center, and right side. I was careful to use a microfibre cloth to protect the lower part of the opening. Seems solid enough.

Took all the wheels off, cleaned the barrels, and painted the disk hats using Tremclad flat black hi temp paint. They are certainly cleaner, but not that much different I suppose. I doubt the barrels had ever been cleaned before.

Also put a new air filter in, and cabin air filter. By the look of it, the cabin filter had never been changed before. Changing the cabin filter was way too easy. The engine air filter was just more work - about 30 minutes all told for that, but not difficult.

Left to do, when the parts get delivered in a couple of weeks: Painted door handles and a tunnel insulator.

One more pic for good luck:

It's a nice time of the year. First thing I did after installing the plate was bit of a run up the highway.

Nice looking Grand Sport. I put the Top Flite removable plate carrier on ours 2 years ago but they must have changed the design since I had to unfasten the bottom of the nose and pry it down far enough to insert the base bracket in front of the radiator. It attached using all original fasteners but the plate carrier has more of a utility appearance than yours. Maybe I should have waited although I needed a front plate on it for its 400 Km journey home. Nice job

Yup.. when I installed mine (w/o their lic frame), I almost ended up in same predicament... but noticed how close it was going to be and moved the assembly "out" a tad to get adequate clearance and to avoid possibility of wind pressure possibly causing "touching" which would mar the paint on the bumper cover (even with their foam protectant material).
