I have had mine for 4 years and no problems other than having to take and apart and clean the door opening mechanism. That is a common thing that most most seem to have to do on C6s at some point. It takes about 10 minutes per door. No problem with the AT and have about 66k miles on the car now.

Go for it, you won't regret it. I also traded my 89 for C6, and never looked back!

Congratulations on the new ride.
The fuel pump flange leak is an issue that was fixed in mine by the dealership at no charge. You will know you have the issue when you smell gas when the car was 1/2 to a full tank of gas. Mine had the gas smell all the time until I had 1/4 of a tank or less in my car. When I walked out in my garage it smelled like I had an open can of gas.
I hope you enjoy your new ride and make sure to share pics

Lisa

I got to tell ya - I'm pretty intimated by all the electronic stuff on this car - this is a whole new world for me - guess I better sit down with the owner's manual and a stiff drink - huh?

Congrats on the new ride. And yes, there’s plenty of good info in the manual!

Really?
Respectfully suggest avoiding C7, then.
High probability you'll wind-up on a ventilator.

...guess I better sit down with the owner's manual and a stiff drink - huh?
Do a little research on C6 harmonic balancers.
Seems a recurring issue going back to C5. The tell is wobbling fan.
GM apparently never felt a need to improve a lousy design.
Since HB replacement's pricey due to labor and a real PITA job.
Wise folks use an aftermarket HB, ATI seems a forum fav but there're others.
Makes no sense replacing a component w/ same defective component, does it.

Tires.
Corvettes are shipped w/ an aggressive alignment.
Neg camber's required for high speed cornering when/if tracked, not so good for ordinary street driving/cruising. Insides wear way too fast for most considering their mild driving style vs cost of tires.
Solution's Pfadt Performance Street Spec: http://www.pfadtracing.com/blog/wp-c...-9.12.2011.pdf -- performed w/ next set of new skins.

Another item, C6 is a power hog feeding its computers.
Doesn't take much to run down a battery w/ car just sitting.
Many of us know the value of using a battery tender if car's not routinely driven.
If ever trying to start & get every CEL in the book, battery's low. Doesn't take much.

BTW w/ all the electronics from time to time something truly weird, senseless happens?
BEFORE getting bent outa shape & start chasing rabbits down holes, try something very simple first.
Disconnect battery for a few minutes, it'll force all computers to reboot.
Truly amazing how many electronic C6 gremlins are solved by this easy trick.
*BUT, anytime C6 loses power due to dead or replacement battery, windows must be re-indexed.
Easy procedure, in OM.

Looks sharp, always liked VY.
Wheels aside tough telling the difference between an '05 & '13. Hidden beauty of C6.
C6 get very good MPG too, if/when not flogged.
Otherwise stupid reliable, IMO.

2 generations from what you're used to w/ C4?Differences/improvements will be stark if not obvious.
Great time to have a lot of fun.

I've had my '08 since new and the only issue I've had was headlight crazing, which thankfully was covered by GM. Mechanically it's been the most reliable vehicle I ever owned.

I have an 08. When I bought it from the original owner, it still had some factory warranty. Here are some issues that I experienced in the 08 C6.
Had it in the shop 3 times for not shifting out of park. They replaced the shifter under warranty. Bad solenoid in the shifter assembly will randomly cause the shifter to not move out of park.
Rear end popping during low speed turns. Change the fluid to correct that.
You may notice the roof popping or making noise. Simple fix. Many good threads on that maintenance point.
Seat bottom cushions get broken or worn. Simple to replace or modify.
Shifter cable ends may fail on a ten year old car. I replaced the cable for about $50.
Had to replace the ECM on mine, but that may be a rare issue.
Tire pressure monitors may have been replaced already, but 10 years is about the time to consider replacing them.
Oil pan leaks. I fixed mine for about $60.
I read that some 08 model automatic transmissions had a seal problem and that caused sluggish shifts between 1 and 2 or 2 and 3. I boosted the shift pressures on mine to make the shifts better.
I am not saying that the car you are looking at will have these issues, but these areas are things to look for during the inspection.

Well, you have bought it....but in any case.....my 2008 has been EXCELLENT. No problems whatsoever. Did have the headlight recall work performed. Also got a letter about potential fuel leakage/odor issues, but no such problem has developed so no recall work necessary. Enjoy!

i recently sold my 08 A6 coupe 3LT with 103K on it for $17,500, and it was as solid as a tank. The buyer has already taken it across country. If they have good maintenance, and have not been beat on, there is nothing special to look out for. Most will say "check the wobble in the HB", but it if only wobbles a little bit, I would not be concerned.

If you can verify solid maintenance, I would not worry.

Based on info, if it is a private owner vehicle, coupe, I would suppose the price is around $20K. If it is dealer, probably $23 or so...how close am I?

I have owned my ‘08 for nine years. This year I had the stuck in park problem. A month later the shifter cable broke. Otherwise problem free.

The biggest problem is trying to wipe the smile off your face for the first 3 months.
