Mid pipe inquiry!
What are the pros and cons to both?
thank you!!
When going with LT headers, you looking for a X pipe system that will work with the header pipes at there end type point connection style (flange for bolting, compression flange or slip fit), and end at the factory locations for the back of the pipes. Without know what headers, don't have a clue what X pipe with High flow cats are needed to complete the system.
So on that note to save a lot of trouble, check with header manufacturer to see if they have a X pipe system with high flow cats that works with their headers, and will terminate at the back of pipe at the factory locations. From here, the axle back mufflers should be plug and play, so long as they have the correct size muffler pipes for the X pipe in play. I bring this up, since base X pipes are 2 1/2", while the Z06 type X pipes are 3" isntead.
Also, if the car is for street use, you want a X pipe system that has high flow cats. Your going to loss about 4hp with the High flow cats in play (as part of the X pipe), but the cats will prevent the car from stinking of unburnt fuel in the cabin every stop light instead.
So to sum it up, the X pipe with high flow cats needs to be the correct lenght, Bend, the correct size pipe, and have the correct connection style for the headers in play, and needs to end at the back of the pipes in the factory locations so the Axle back muffler will bolt on without needing mods as well.
Fixed bolt flanged headers,

Slip fit headers,

Compression flanged headers,

Note that they have a different kind of collector to x-pipe flanges ... they use aircraft style V-band clamps
