My harmonic balancer on my 2005 has always had a little wobble since I bought it in 2011. It has a little over 30,000 miles on it. I have always kept an eye on it because of what I have read on this website.
I looked at it yesterday and of course it is still wobbling a little bit. The belt tensioner dial moves between 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Or one notch on the gauge. I figure this is OK.
It does not squeal or make any noise. The rubber on the balancer isn't out of shape.
I only drive it a few hundred miles a year. I've only put about 3,000 miles on it in the past seven years. And I pretty much baby it. I know that it's never been changed. I had it at the dealer's last year and they looked at it and said it was OK then.
So I guess I'll just wait and watch. What do you guys think? Do you think I'm OK for a while?
Thanks.

It isn't broken, so I wouldn't fix it. It might go another 100K miles like this. Let's say you replace the pulley, and later on you develop a front cover leak or you need to change the cam. You would have to spend more time and money repeating the pulley job you didn't need the first time.
Wow. " ... only put about 3,000 miles on it in the past seven years." I recently bought a 2007 Base A6 Coupe, and I have put more than 3,000 miles on in just seven weeks. And, even worse ... it's kept outside, and I drive it in the rain.
I probably should remind you- as far as driving my car- I do have a 1978 Corvette. And a 2008 Impala SS. My DD is a 2011 Malibu. So, some of them sit occasionally.
