Default Harmonic balancer wobble......

My harmonic balancer on my 2005 has always had a little wobble since I bought it in 2011. It has a little over 30,000 miles on it. I have always kept an eye on it because of what I have read on this website.

I looked at it yesterday and of course it is still wobbling a little bit. The belt tensioner dial moves between 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Or one notch on the gauge. I figure this is OK.

It does not squeal or make any noise. The rubber on the balancer isn't out of shape.

I only drive it a few hundred miles a year. I've only put about 3,000 miles on it in the past seven years. And I pretty much baby it. I know that it's never been changed. I had it at the dealer's last year and they looked at it and said it was OK then.

So I guess I'll just wait and watch. What do you guys think? Do you think I'm OK for a while?
Thanks.

You seem to keep an eye on it so I would just drive it Now if they spontaneously explode....that would be another story lol.

It isn't broken, so I wouldn't fix it. It might go another 100K miles like this. Let's say you replace the pulley, and later on you develop a front cover leak or you need to change the cam. You would have to spend more time and money repeating the pulley job you didn't need the first time.

Are you saving this car for the next owner you sell it to?

3,000 miles in 7 years ..... I wouldn't even concern myself with your harmonic balancer.

Wow. " ... only put about 3,000 miles on it in the past seven years." I recently bought a 2007 Base A6 Coupe, and I have put more than 3,000 miles on in just seven weeks. And, even worse ... it's kept outside, and I drive it in the rain.

Yes!! I'm saving it for the next owner. My son!!

But I do have four cars. It's hard to drive them all.

Guessing it'll be fine, but if it starts squeaking you'll know it's time.
If/when it does happen, put this HB jazz to bed forever w/ an ATI.

I probably should remind you- as far as driving my car- I do have a 1978 Corvette. And a 2008 Impala SS. My DD is a 2011 Malibu. So, some of them sit occasionally.

But thanks for your opinions. I appreciate them.
