We own a 2011 GS ragtop (A6) with 50K. Just completed a 3,400 mile trip from DFW to Yellowstone, into Southern Montana, over to Mt. Rushmore, and back to Texas. Mostly with the top down. A mix of interstate driving (70-80), mountain driving, slow speed through the crowded National parks, town driving (Denver, Cheyenne, Jackson, etc), Raton Pass (8500 ft), Bighorn Pass (9500 ft). The car never seemed to strain, averaged a bit over 23mpg, and looked durn good doing it. Our MPG is plenty good enough...

We trudge on.

But this thread isn't about gas mileage.

I'm still not really sure what the subject is, but I will say that if someone cannot tell by gut instinct if the engine is lugging -- they should be driving an auto.

I taught my ex-wife how to drive my stick Roadrunner back around '70 - '71 and she gradually learned (with some coaching) when to shift or not. It ain't rocket science.

Well CRAP! Now I gotta worry about changing the oil too! What weight, what color, how often? I'm hyperventilating......

Why are people with OCD (like me) drawn to Corvettes? You should see when I forget to take my meds

You want about three pounds worth. Just get your favorite color and change it before it turns black. Black is bad....just like wheels.
