Default Computer ?

My C6 is an 08 with about 50,000 miles. Base coupe w/ manual. This afternoon the car stopped and wouldn't restart for about 10 minutes. All of the gauges read ok, but check engine light came on and also check traction control, which went off and on. Reduced engine power came on and off. When it started the radio worked but the stations were all mixed. Same thing happened about 5 min and 3 miles later. I coasted to the curb and experienced all the same. Started about 10 mins later and I made it home, Avery short distance. Opened the garage door and drove as the engine stopped again. If I start ok in the morning I am headed to my mechanic, but what is going on ?
Thanks for any ideas.

90% chance you just have a dying battery. You have to rule that out first.

Mechanic said no. Diagnosis is computer failure

Try replacing the battery.

It may just change your mechanic's diagnosis.

eta: it could be loose battery connections as well.

I don’t think “computer failure” is a common problem with the C6, but I could be wrong.

Great, please post code(s) mechanic found leading to his decision.
C6 owners can't be helped otherwise, which is what this place is supposed to be all about.

First thing we did was take out the battery and had it tested at Auto Zone where I bought it. Registered about 85%, pretty good. Put the battery back in and drove to mechanic, who is a Vette expert.
He said when we removed the battery, we erased the codes. I left the car with him, and he left it running to see if he could duplicate the shut off, which it did after one hour. His diagnosis is computer.
Waiting for replacement Monday

If your battery tested at 85%, that is probably 99% of the problem, IMO .

Computer huh? Would that be the ECM, PCM, BCM, DCM, RCM, or SCM? Find yourself another Vette specialist. This one doesn't seem like he knows much. A battery at 85% is not good.

It sounds to me like you should be checking your alternator/connections. Car starts and you go down the road, with a drain on the battery from the operation of the car. Battery reaches the point where the car stops running, and you sit for a while, until the battery recovers a bit, and repeat the process. Sounds like the battery is not charging when the car is running. Have you looked at the cars voltmeter?

Shade tree method: With hand meter, check voltage at battery posts with engine off, then start engine and check again. It should read 1-2 volts higher.

Of course the terminal/post connections have to be clean and tight.

Well, he got that part right.
Pity, either a rookie mistake or flat-out incompetence.
WTH's going on would very likely been contained in those codes w/o disconnecting battery.

OK can't unrign a bell; so, what's $ estimate for this new computer & labor, and please ID which computer.
G/L, sorry this is happening to you, Corvettes overall are supposed to be about enjoyment.
Here's to hoping his diagnosis is correct, and not a weakened failing battery.
Update w/ results.
