Windshield replacement stories

Same for me, they came out to my house and were very neat. I will have to do it all over again in the spring, as the new windshield they put in did not even last one season due to a rock on the NYS Thruway.
Maybe it was DCasole, I'll check with himNSF

You are right and wrong with my Quote

There is a difference in the Interlayer ( the plastic sandwiched between the glass ) of a HUD W/S .
Because most glass is curved where the image would be projected it could be distorted , This special HUD interlayer optically corrects the image . It really has nothing to do with brightness or any of the other hocus pocus you read about here on the forums and has everything to do with the sharpness of the image
You can read more about the HUD interlayer here
https://www.eastman.com/Brands/Safle...p-Display.aspx
- Saflex HUD
- Saflex QHUD (acoustic HUD)
- Saflex VIEW ST- made specifically for complex windscreens to fix short/tall image distortion
But

The area where the image is projected in a C6 is relatively flat producing no distortion at all in the projected image .. and this fact has been proven over and over again by the many folks on this forum who took my advice and just installed a NON HUD windshield which includes myself , I am in the business and I had a NON HUD windshield in my C6
I have even gone as far as to tell some folks "if you want to meet with me here in Atlanta I will gladly put a NON HUD and a HUD w/s side by side and bet $1,000 that you would never be able to tell the difference between the two images that are being projected"
This also extends to the OEM verses OE fight that is always prevalent here in the forums . The OEM and the Aftermarket "AP Technoglass" brand are one in the same except the GM branded glass will cost $400 to $700 more .....just for the GM trademark in the " BUG"

Thanks.

I am going to wait until the spring, maybe even until my inspection sticker is up to replace this one. This car seems to be a magnet for rocks. I do have to get the crack filled, but unfortunately driving season is coming to a close here in Jersey. Don't forget to let me know when you are going to be in the area, I owe you a pork roll sandwich and a beer.

Safelite installed GM glass in my car but with the GM logo mostly erased off. The Tech showed me where it was but you could still see part of it.
