Jumper Pack
I did a search but didn’t find anything. Does anyone have/use a small jumper pack to start a Vette? On a long trip we came out of a restaurant and the Vette was dead. Thankfully someone else came out and they had jumper cables. Would like to have a backup if it should happen again. If you have one, do you have a recommendation? Reviews are mixed. Thanks.

I don't think many, if any, members here carry those in their Vettes because it is not recommended to jump start a Corvette. It can damage the electrical systems.

I have one, my main issue with them is they dont tend to have enough guts to turn these engines over. The only time they will have enough power is if they're fully charged, and keeping them charged all the time is tough. If you keep it in the car, it will certainly not be charged enough when you go to use it.
My question is why the battery was dead on a long trip? The alternator should have charged the battery enough no problem if you were driving it for more than 15 minutes or so.

We have one of those Halo jumpers. About the size of a Kindle Fire. Got it on QVC. Haven't had to use it yet. Carry it more for the other guy than for myself. Halo has USB ports to charge phones, etc.Holds a charge forever.

I purchased this jump starter from Amazon. I've have used it and it works great. Carry it with me all the time as it is small and convenient to store. Highly recommend it.

I bought this one. It's rated for big V8's.up to 6.5L gas. Holds a charge well. But I have a confession,,,I haven't had to use it yet thankfully, but I carry it in the back compartment of my C6 just in case. Over 600 4.5 star reviews. Beats those big bulky packs.
If your battery is good and you don't have an abnormal parasitic draw you shouldn't need one but, nice to have one just in case.

Ed: Jump starting a vette is no different then jump starting and other vehicle....Follow the instructing on P.5-46 and NEVER have the good vehicle running when you hook up the cables.Hell the dealer had to jump start my at least 3 times when it was there for longer then needed...They are too cheap to buy battery tenders or charge up the battery before i got there to pick it up.

But from my experience, this pack wont start MY car with a completely dead battery. I am cammed with corresponding valve springs so that may be the difference.
One thing I love about that jump pack is the booster cables are actually copper with plastic over mold. I had a antigravity prior and the booster cables were plastic with copper jaws. Those broke with minimal use since it’s pretty brittle.

Here's what you want, and either catch it on sale at harbor freight when it goes on sale for $59, or use the 20% coupon to buy it.
Next, since we need the pack to be charged when you need it, you need to run a 12v ignition on supply to the back battery cubby where you store it, so the charger only charges plugged in when you have the car on/running. Hence sitting at the house on the 110v charger (away from the car) is not going to do you any good, and it sitting dead in the car without a charge, not going to do you any good as well.
One last thing and the batteries in the unit are Lithium iron phosphate , so the units batteries only only going to last about 3 years.
Simply, we want the unit to be pretty much a item that you don't have to remember about, and just be in the car when needed fully charged instead.
This is the reason that we run a igntion on 12 volt source to the cubby to charge the unit when the car is running, not charging/draining the car battery when car is not running. and pretty much good for at least 3 years.
The DBpower is a good unit as well with 150 amp more output, but you can get the viking units (450 amps) for less money instead.
Hell, you can get the 400 amp unit for even less and still has enough power to start a C6 with dead battery no problems as well. And again, take the time to run a ignition source 12v supply to the battery, so it stays fully charged in the car, for when the time comes to use it.

I also have the Viking from Harbor. It easily fits in the rear trunk well compartment. It is good assurance if you need a jump. Easier to stow then jumper cables.

Dano - Why do you say Li iron phosphate should only last 3 years? I though they are good for 10 years at least. And Li batteries have very low self discharge rates. Charge it up every 6 months and you should be good. I have a different one in my boat but I charge it once a year. I've used it a couple of times on other peoples boats and it's always worked. Don't have one for my Vette but I should.

Noco Genius. Just used it to start a totally dead C5 after leaving an accessory on for a couple days.

Bought this 3 years ago and check/recharge every 6 months when it drops to about 80%. Has a USB port and several adapter plugs for cell phones and computers. Only used it to start someone's car once, other than the time I tested it on my Vette with a dead battery to make sure it had the ***** to fire it up. I bought it as a backup to the Deka battery, but never needed it for that. BTW, the Deka is only rated 380 CCA, but cranks without any concern.
