The TPMS on the left rear works till the tires get to temp about 35 pounds, I set cold at 30. Then it stops detecting, I park the car for a little while, about an hour, Drive it and it works the rest of the day.

A front tire was leaking last month and dealer removed, cleaned the bead and reseated, The rear doesnt lose air.

What could be causing this?

How old are the TPMS? Normal battery life is said to be 8-10 years.

If you do replace them, replace them with OEM & make sure they were manufactured recently. I went back & forth with non-OEM that came with my wheel/tire package and didn’t work right until I replaced them with OEM.

I sure wouldn't get concerned about a sensor that gets stuck at 35 psi, but works fine at lower pressures. It's not a battery failure that causes it. I'd be far more concerned about tires heating up so much to get a 5 psi increase. Are your other tires going from 30 cold to 35 hot also?

From what I've read and experienced, failure of the LR sensor can also be caused by a communication error in the TPMS system. This gets reported as a failure in the LR sensor. If you have access to a sensor programming tool, reprogram the sensors starting at the LR tire, and proceed counter clockwise, ending at the LF tire. This swaps the logical sensor positions front to back. If the LR the sensor is in fact bad, it will be then reported as a failure in the LF sensor. If you still get a LR sensor failure, something is interfering with the sensor system. Don't forget to reprogram the sensors once you have finished this procedure.
