Default Does C 6 manual lock out reverse when driving?

Appreciate any help you all can give me in advance!

I recently put a new gear shift **** on my manual transmission, and haven’t driven it yet because of the weather. When cycling through the gears in my garage though, I am having a hard time figuring out if I am in 5th or reverse. My question is, when you are driving, is there any gate or anything to keep you from shifting into reverse instead of 5th?

Yes it does. I'm fairly certain all modern cars have this as a safety feature.

It does with an electric solenoid, but if you push hard enough you can overcome it.

I’m guessing that means the car would have to running, when is why is was difficult to tell going through the gears with the car turned off. Thanks for the response.

Its speed dependent. So the car has to be moving above a few mph to engage the solenoid.

now that you mention that I recall in HP tuners when I was working on my C5, the numbers were like 2 mph and 4 mph for the on-and-off thresholds. I raised the numbers so I could get into reverse at like six or eight miles per hour because I had to quickly go from pulling forward to backing in at work.

lockout gets engaged when car is off as well. You can't get it into reverse after a few minutes of tje car being off.
