Default Going on 14 years......

Haven't been on the forum in a while, just put the Vette up for the winter and was thinking about it going on 14 years. I can't believe I have had it that long - I went in 2005 and watched it being built in Bowling Green - one of the most awesome days of my life. It now has a whopping 4000 miles on it. Still love the car - will probably never part with it. I recently added a 2012 CTS V as a daily driver -- found one with 24K miles. I love Corvettes and everything about them - wish I had enough money to own one from every year!!! Hope everyone in Corvette world is doing well and happy holidays!

I bought mine new in 05 as well. I still have it, and it has about 33,000 miles now. Such a nice looking car to let it go.

I bought my 2006 new and took NCM delivery on 31 Jan 2006. I'm two months away from 13 years of ownership. The longest I've ever owned a car. Now sitting at 41800 miles.

It'll be 14 years for me in January as well. 56,000 miles on mine and I've enjoyed every one of them. Not sure how much longer I'll own it but still like it a lot.

Happy Holidays to you to. I marvel at folks such as yourself that can average less than 300 miles per year on their car. I simply couldn't do it. I've had mine for exactly a year. It's a weekend car only and I put right at 10,000 on the odometer this year and I'm alternately mad that I 1) don't get to drive it enough, and 2) have put "too many" miles on it in a year.

Nonetheless, here's hoping you have another 14 and more years with your Vette.

Thanks! I mainly just drive mine short drives on weekends in the summer. I am so OCD about keeping it nice it drives me crazy! I have a 94 Z28 with 16K miles and a 79 Trans Am that I had in high school in 1984 and it has 60K miles...... I don't drive them alot, but I do enjoy getting them out in the summer on short drives. That is why I bought the CTS V to be a daily driver --- It is in really good condition, but isn't perfect - so I have to not let that drive me crazy...LOL. I will never get rid of that 05 Vette...... the factory let my son sit in it while it was being built. It was up in the air - no tires - no front end and he was riding down the assembly line in it. It is a great memory -- and that was in 2005 before they started charging to see it being built. Boo GM for that!

I purchased mine new and took delivery November 17, 2007. I now have over 132,000 miles on the odo. I was employed by a GM subsidiary at the time of the purchase and was able to get it for employee price. Hope we both wear out on the same day.

I like the pics of your 3 cars. I bought a new 77 T/A 6.6, Muncie 4 speed, Hurtst shifter, 8-track, and the rare optioned rear seat console. When we started to have kids, the T/A was just sitting in the garage without being driven, year after year, So many people were after me to sell it, and regrettably, I did.
Once the kids finished their schooling and out on their own, I was in the market for a sports car again, I thought about a older muscle car, but then I remembered that the creature comforts were missing for the most part.
In 2009, I purchased a 2006 used with approx 10K miles on it, flew to pick it up, then drove 1250 miles home. It was the best drive ever in my first Corvette ever. I couldn't stop glancing back at it when I would stop for pit stops on the wonderful drive home.
My wife and I use it as our road trip vehicle during the driving season, hence the mileage of 97K miles. Of course the paint is not perfect after all those miles, but I don't worry about it. It's just too fun to drive to not do it. I bought it to drive and enjoy it from April 1-Nov1 each year.

The nice thing about this iconic car, each owner has his or her own way of enjoying it to the fullest.

Happy Holidays.

I agree with your comments.....I watched our '08 being built in the fall of 2007 and did NCM delivery. An outstanding car in all respects (and I fit in it, unlike the C7s). It now has about 18,000 miles on it. We'v also had our '65 now for 20 years....wow, time does fly.

I don't think I could own a corvette and keep the miles low. However, i guess when you are the first and only owner and pick it up at the factory you probably have a different outlook on it. I like cars with a few miles so i don't worry about driving them. I purchased my 2006 in July of 2017 (my third vette - sold the other two) and it had 39k miles on it. I just put it away for the winter and it has a bit over 47k. I'm hoping to get to drive it more next year.

If I had the money, I'd like to have one from every generation.... buy a brand new one and an identical one to drive , and drive, and drive, and drive!!

Beautiful cars by the way!!!!!!

Cool story, I did not know they let you watch it being built or much less have family ride along on the assembly line. Also, I am amazed you only have 4000 miles on it- I could not demonstrate that restraint!!

Well...... back in 2005 I got on this forum and found a guy at the plant that did tours - you could email him and he would let you know when the car was being built and let you watch it roll down the assembly line. He even took pictures of it and emailed them to me. They let my son ride in it, but when a plant manager was coming they promptly got him out and behind the yellow line.....manager walks by..... once he is out of site, back in the car he went. The workers there let him run air ratchets to help put the brake ducts together, they gave him posters, -- all the workers were super friendly. It was better than Disney!!!!
