no cats is amazing
just did some emission testing passed easily. wont be another one for 2 years. had my mechanic remove my cat converters removed and car gained some hp for sure and its louder

It's his car, let him do what he wants. Maybe he installed catlett long tubes and picked up a ton of power? May e ge realizes his car without cars is still cleaner than the cars sold anywhere in the developing world or China?

We’re supposed to congratulate you for intentionally making your car pollute as much as a dozen or so legal cars???? As far as emissions testing, it’s not clear to me from the wording of your note whether you passed with the cats on and then took them off, or passed with them off. If the latter, either you got an incompetent/dishonest inspector, or you live in a state with virtually no pollution laws. Having cats is second only to having PCV as an obviously sensible and effective pollution control requirement.

Removing the cats gains you almost zero horse power & now you get to smell that wonderful rotten egg odor along with the exhaust drone that you will get to enjoy, congrats!

Any LS2, LS3 or LS7, the cats are an integral part of the down tubes from the exhaust manifolds to the mid-pipes. So, either the mechanic physically removed them, then fabricated replacement down tubes; or, he (she) gutted the existing cats rendering them now useless. The notion of gaining HP on a stock LS by gutting the cats is wishful thinking. Pretty much the same for more noise.

I have had my share of cars that did not require catalytic converters, however I don't miss the toxic carbon monoxide smell or the 2-3 hp loss.
However, if the car is now louder it must be more powerful!
