A new one is $178.00 and it probably has the same plastic connectors as the existing one. The spring tension causes the door to pop off as there are no retaining clamps, bolts etc. holding the thing in place. The door fits into a plastic bracket that holds it for a while before popping out again. I'm sure I'm not the lone ranger with this problem and I'm looking for a fix not a recurring problem. The car only has 20000 miles on it and
the engineering on this thing doesn't make any sense what so ever. Anyone out there dealt with this and what was your solution.
Never heard of this being an issue. Looks to me like 4 solutions:
Buy a new door;
Try re-gluing the door to the bracket;
Put some screws through the door into the bracket;
Run without the door.
Seems like #2 would be the one to try. Just sayin...
since it is the first time anyone has heard of this, it definitely is not an engineering problem. You should be able to see what is causing it to pop off", and fix that part of it.
The OP was last in here on 12/17. He had no problem asking for help which is what the forum is for. He can at least give us an idea what he decided to do, (repair, replace, modify etc.). This might help someone out in the future.

As has already been mentioned, just buy a new one or fix the one you have. There's nothing wrong with the engineering.

How many fill ups did I have over 148K miles and the door never fell off...the retaining spring thingamabob failed and I replaced it in my garage... Hope he/she gets it sorted out...

Bought a $55k car... $180 makes him sad. Fix it or whine about it. Either way, No one cares.
