Slight wheel mod- Ok let me have it!
#2
My text didn't upload for some reason. Anyway, the gold lugs aren't the worst thing I've ever seen on a Corvette and they are easily put back to original. Sometimes you have to take a chance to come up with a winner. I know you guys will be brutally honest, so let me have it!
I'm having Jeckyll and Hyde thoughts about them. Under the right circumstances, they look good, and at other times, I wonder what I was thinking. Have I committed a Corvette crime?

If you like em then go for it buddy. I'm not a fan. I could see em as an accent but they dont go with anything on your car.

You don't have gold anywhere else. They just don't fit in with the rest of the car.

Don't know why but the words "pimp my ride' flashed thru my mind when I saw those gold nuts.

I tried this for a couple days, before removing the tape. Sometimes you just have to do it, to be able to see if it works. The thin one was better, but still too gaudy for my taste. I'm old school where removing unneeded stuff was better than adding it. Gone are the chicklets, door handles, and front flag emblem. It was excess weight and it messed with the aerodynamics.

Hox, I assume your car is either Monterey or CRM, and I see you have the calipers painted the same. I had mine painted this spring to match the Monterey body color, and to be honest they are barely noticeable -- the color is too dark. Your thoughts?
I did consider blue or yellow but thought that would be too gaudy for an old guy so I passed on them.
Up close they look fine but from a distance one doesn't really notice them, or so it seems to me:

I see you have larger rotors than mine.

Yeah, I just bought a $5 rattle can at ACE hdwe to fairly closely match my CRM '08. It's not an exact match, but the colors on the MR and CRM appear different in different lighting anyway. Like you say, it's not very noticeable. I ran out of paint several years ago and they quit making that color, so no more annual touch-up that kept adding unnecessary weight. Your green wheels look cool, but you need to park under a tree to finish them.

Yes, the excess weight was something I pondered over for a year, but concluded that the extra .65 ounces of paint wouldn't hurt my street rod performance too much.
Do you think the green chrome looks okay against Monterey Red?
Rotors: I have the F55 option. I was thinking of making big "F55" badges and riveting them on the side of the car, so any potential racers would be intimidated and think twice about testing me.
Yay or nay?
