Very simple. Just run under dash and under the sill plates on the car to back and under rear carpet sides to rear area. Pretty easy to do. I then tapped into rear back up light and works great. Two wire hookup.

I mounted mine kind of next to the trunk button (see photo), then fed the wires into the gap between the back and the trunk, then, if I remember correctly, there's a grommet back there that the wiring for the tail lights etc. goes through that I used to get the camera wires into the trunk, then from there I ran it over to the side tucking the wire under the carpet up to the front center of the trunk, then under the waterfall and center console to the stereo.

I routed mine through the center console then under the rug to go over the hump and through the trunk. On the camera side I put in a weatherpak connector for all the wires so it could be easily disconnected. Ran the car side power wires to the backup lights, then drilled a small hole and used a rubber grommet to run the video wire into the trunk.

Don't over think it. Very simple to run the wire. Either from the center console under the carpet to the rear or push it up under the trim as you work your way around the car to the back. No need to remove any trim pieces.

I pulled the carpet and ran the wiring up the tunnel. I replaced my head unit at the same time. I spent way more time running wire to the front cam than the rear!

I tapped into the backup light circuit in the back corner instead of under the car as the write-up I initially read did.

Really a pretty easy project.

Just installed this unit (ax1000) in my 05. I ran my wires from the back tail light area along the right side hatch weatherstrip at the top of the wheel well panel. Run the passenger seat all the way forward and run the wire behind the carpeted fall behind the seat to the center console and forward to the radio. I used a bulk head usb port at the ash tray location for Apple car play.

Did any of you have the factory Nav with voice control? If so, were you able to use the factory mic for the AX1000, or did you use the one with the AX1000?
