IMHO, a Corvette is fairly easy to work on mechanically and (so far) electrically. Electrically, I'm sure in the future there will be a number of vendors that offer replacement ecm's and bcm's for the Corvette. The problem is the "now". There are "open source" (https://hackaday.com/2013/10/29/can-hacking-protocols/) ecm's and programs that could work and its not that hard (IMHO) to make a bcm that could work in you your application. The problem is that the process is lengthy and time consuming even if you have the expertise, not to mention legal in emission states. I think that after 15 years Automotive manufacture's should release the electrical protocols for the ecm and bcm for enthusiast cars.

I enjoy doing my own work, I think it is part of the fun of owning a sports car. I do worry about obsolescence, however.
