Default Steering wheel center cap

is the center cap held on by adhesive such as double sided tape. Do I need a tiny screw driver or a tiny pic to remove it. Thank you!

The center cap is not sold separately. You would need to buy the whole steering wheel air bag assy.

I believe your original cap is glued in.

A C6 wheel center cap can be glued over the existing steering wheel cap using silicone sealant (RTV).

You will need to remove just the flat cap part from the wheel center cap before installing it on your steering wheel.

Here is one that was used from a "Centennial Edition" wheel center cap after installing it on the steering wheel:

Using both hands, twist the black plastic part off the flat center section.

You will need to use a Dremel tool and grind off just a little of the plastic on the back of the cap (after twisting it apart) so it sets flush on your old steering wheel cap.

Here is a photo of the complete wheel center cap before twisting it apart:

To properly remove the steering wheel center cap you will need to remove the airbag from the steering wheel & then the airbag from the cover. This can be done in under 10 min.

If your stock center cap is smooth, I recommend wrapping it with vinyl & then having a decal of your choice made to go over it or you can paint it & add decal.

Remove airbag from wheel (make sure battery has been disconnected first)

Remove airbag from cover. You can now remove center badge by straightening those tabs & pulling from the front.

Center badge painted matte black & custom Jake decal installed. This is the badge that came with my new wheel but same process for stock badge.

I am agreeing with post 6 above.
Their final emblem looks very good.
Issue IMO with any center emblem mod is if the "bag" explodes.
That emblem is shrapnel.
Plus perhaps the emblem may affect the bag's expansion/ trajectory.

Interesting. So the factory wheel center caps are 2 pc? How thick is this part that you are attaching over the factory one?

Excellent points to consider if the wheel center cap is substituted for the original cap.
May or may not be valid, but I wouldn't want to be the one to test it!
Thanks Kenny!

Did it lay directly on top of the factory one? Would it be possible to use double sided tape to hold it on?

Laid on top of the original.

I used RTV which filled in any low spots, but I guess you could use that double sided 3M Molding tape.
