I bought some Hertz speakers for my 05 Corvette that has the Bose system. 5.25 coaxial for the rear and 6.75 component for the front. I'm just going to unplug the dash speaker. I am going to remove the 3.5 and 10 from the door. Should I wire the crossover to the wire from the 3.5 or the 10?

Neither. Are you running an aftermarket amp? Did you change the head unit or are you running the stock unit? You can't just replace the door speakers with components without bypassing the factory amp.

Stock head unit and stock Bose amp. I am just replacing the speakers. If it still doesn't sound good I am gona buy an amp but I would like to avoid that. The plan is to wire the crossover to the 3.5 speaker wire because I think it is powered by the amp. I think the Bose 10 inch speakers have an internal amp but not sure.

It's not going to work. Your only option if you want to keep the stock amp is to replace the door 3.5" speakers with some aftermarket 4ohm speakers. The Bose amps have built in crossovers specifically tailored to the Bose speakers and set up. Adding additional crossovers to either of the wires, either running to the woofer or the 3.5" speaker, will not give you your desired results.
Edit: as far as the rear speakers, they should work fine with the Bose amp.

Dang I wish the guys at crutchfeild would have told me that when i called. Could I just not use the crossover that came with the speakers and wire the tweeter to the 3.5 wires and wire the 6.75 to the 10 wires?
The 8s are subwoofers, and a crossed to only play low frequencies. The actual door speakers are the small ones that play most of what you hear.
What made you want to cha ge the speakers out? What are you trying to improve, without really understanding the system and what you want to improve, you're just gonna throw money at it and not fix anything.

I don't recommend it. The Bose crossovers are specific to its set up, which is a 3.5" speaker and their 10" woofer. My guess is you are going to waste your time and efforts and not be pleased with the results.
I'm just trying to make the car sound better. I'm coming form a Saturn Sky with the monsoon sound system and it sounded awesome.
I installed the rear speakers and I guess I'm going to hold off on the doing anything else for right now.
As the other guys have said, the Bose amplifier and speakers are designed to be used as a set. You bought decent speakers, why not just add a nice four channel amplifier in place of the Bose amp? Find an amp with speaker level inputs and it will be a pretty simple installation. I'd also suggest an amplifier that has signal sense turn on capability so you don't have to run a 12V remote on wire. (Kicker, Memphis, Rockford, JL Audio, Phoenix Gold, Alpine, Arc Audio and others all have amps for this application)
Give the folks at Crutchfield a call, and they will help you out. You're almost there, and your new system is going to sound a lot better than the Bose stuff.
I ordered a Hertz 4 channel amp and wiring kit from crutchfeild. Will I need to run all new speaker wires or can I use what is already there? I assume I need new wires. Anybody got a suggestion as to what gauge or how many feet to buy?
There are 16 or 18 gauge wires from the Bose amp to each door "tweet", and another set of 16 or 18 gauge wires to each door sub. Normally a new pair of speaker wires are used - I would think 14 gauge would be fine unless you are running massive amounts of power from the amp.
At one time I wondered if it would be a good idea to combine the "tweet" and sub wires under the dash and into your new amp, so that you don't have to run new wires. That would effectively give you a thicker gauge and leave the wiring stock. Just a thought.

The part you're going to be missing in the bass. You've taken away the subwoofers and replaced them with relatively small speakers instead. You'll need to order a sub, amp, and box for it to get back to "as good as stock or better" sound.

I would recommend running new 14 gauge speaker wire.
My only other advice is to take a little time and make sure this is something you want to do. Your audio project is getting more complex by the minute and to do this properly you are also going to need to add a subwoofer and another amp to the equation. With my system I installed a 5 channel amp to power the front and rear speakers and also a subwoofer. Good luck!
Get the speed rings too. It’ll help put all of the sound into the car instead of losing some in the door panels Got the speaker plates from Amazon, direct bolt in

Agreed, my audio project took almost 2 months of weekends. Although I took my time and Dynomatted the entire car it was a huge project. I ran 12 gauge ofc wire to make sure it was perfect. I didn’t try this but from what I’ve read about on here, for better sound if you don’t want to go crazy with everything you could just replace the head unit. I considered that first. Took about a month of thinking and planning before I ordered anything. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
Just a tip, take your original door tweeter, cut the paper out, chisel the magnet off and you’ll end up with a perfect way to mount the new tweeters.

I'm not installing a sub woofer because I don't want to loose any trunk room. The system doesn't seem like it has any bass right now. Not really sure how to describe the sound other than saying the music sounds hollow. No depth to it. I assumed the Hertz 6.75 would be able to put out enough bass. Not sure what I am going to do now.
