I recently saw a remote control was available for my NEX5200. I don’t know why I wanted it, but I did...so $80 later I have a remote for my head unit that I’ll likely never use but what the hell. Anyways, I thought while fussing with it I might as well show off my setup....just added led lights to light the bow-tie up to match the illumination of the amps. I love this car for so many reasons...one big one though is it hammers out music in a big way
Yep, I could see where that would hammer out the tunes. Before I did the steering wheel swap on mine so I'd have steering wheel controls, I had a small Pioneer remote I attached to the center console that I used to operate the stereo while driving, I found the buttons on the remote were easier to find while driving, than the buttons on the head unit. I've since gotten rid of the remote now that I have the steering wheel controls.
I also see that yours is an 05 by the looks of your steering wheel, if you'd like to add steering wheel controls to it, here's some great instructions on doing so, if you're interested in reading them. This is where I wrote about the swap on mine, on post #9 . https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-question.html
Don't all modern aftermarket head units come with a remote? Or am I missing something? Hell even the JVC unit I put in my pickup 18 years ago had a remote. The last 4 head units I've installed all had remotes. I think they're all still in the plastic bag they came in with the battery.
I’m sure they did...but I recd the unit without one. When I stumbled across the thing I had to have it....like a 4 year old in a toy store when I see something shined. It’s not exciting, but too me it was a short term big deal
They don't all come with remotes, if I remember correctly, my Pioneer's 8100, and 8200 didn't come with them. Probably because not everyone necessarily wants or needs them, and it's probably a way to help keep the cost down.

The Pioneer 8200 I purchased came with a remote. I never used it, but it did come with one.

I guess I didn't remember correctly then, that happens with age you know. I was thinking I had to buy it extra.
AVIC 8000 NEX (Isn't remote capable unless you had the adapter that plugged into the back).
AVIC 8100 NEX (Is remote capable, but you had to buy the remote extra).
AVIC 8200 NEX (Is remote capable, and comes with the remote).
I knew I had to buy one for something, it was the 8100.
