I got to give my baby a sponge bath today after completing a piston change after car was involved in a water ingestion event.
I bought the car with the problem and have worked on it over the past couple months to change out a bent piston rod.
I was able to successfully do the change without having to remove the engine from the car thanks to threads I found here allowing me to remove the oil pan by dropping the cradle.
I won't get into all the details but let's just say there was some difficult points within the process and I learned a great deal.
The best part is I now have a beautiful car to drive at half the price.
If I can help anyone out there with the knowledge I have gained by doing this project please PM and I will do my best to help.
Thank You All for your help during this project, I couldn't have done it without you.
Looking forward to that 1st 80 degree day with the top down and cruising.
Congratulations Scott. That is excellent work there brother. Wish you all the best. I use to love doing my own engine work but that was another life 40 years ago....lol. Enjoy.
Happy to hear it all worked out . I've done this several times and while it is a challenge, being able to save a nice car for your future enjoyment makes it worth the effort. Get the rod and piston cleaned up and make a display trophy out of it. I use rods, pistons and exploded parts in my die cast car displays. They make great conversation and bragging points with friends. Tell them you twisted the rod when you took on that hellcat and he lost. Enjoy your car and all the best to you.
