Default C6 Convertible Tonneau problem

I have a 2008 convertible with a power top. Yesterday I had problems as when I would try to open it up with the motor running it would say parking brake must be set and of course it was set. I messed around and found that it would work as long as the engine was off and I was in accessory mode.

Second problem is the tonneau cover will not close totally. I did pull the 20 amp fuse marked TPC I believe but it did not correct the problem. I did have a battery replaced and have already re indexed the windows so that is not the problem,. Need to get it working as the weather is getting nice !!!! Suggestions??

Thanks.

Welcome to the world of C-6 power tops. They seem to have several "common" issues that people here run into. I can't tell you much about the only working in the accessory mode thing, but my 2006 also from time to time will not close the tanneau completely. I call it moody cause it doesn't do it all the time. In my case there seems to be something thats going on with the latch that actually pulls down the tanneau. Sometimes the latch is not up far enough to catch the tanneau and pull it down. In my case while I am holding the button I can watch the latch thingy while the top is doing it's thing. The latch either stays in place "up" and it will grab the tanneau and pull it down. Sometimes the tanneau will cycle down and then come back up so it can grab the tanneau. And when it doesn't work properly the latch will go down and not come back up. This causes the tanneau to just rest on top of the latch and just do an up & down motion of about 1/2 inch until I release the switch. All I have to do to get it right is to go back through the cycle about 1/2 way and then the latch will pop up and all is good. Doesn't do it enough to justify a fix yet. But I got the feeling that one day it's just gonna go South for good. I know this doesn't give you an answer to your question of why it's doing it, but might help in some way. And if you find out why it's doing us let us know !!! Good Luck

Thanks for the info on yours. There are just so many moving parts on these cars that we love !! My biggest problem was when i was putting the top up it would not go all the way over until the tanneau connected... I finally moved the latch on the top part and it caught and went down far enough to get the top covered..

I will certainly let you know if I find out anymore that could help us both .. Take care

Hi - i just hit this problem with my 2008 C6 Vert (of course) ...

The tonneau will not latch when I put the top down ...

And it will not latch during the up cycle - so the convertible top just sits in a half-closed position ... the tonneau is 98% down - and just seems to be sitting on top of the lock mechanism.

So how does the tonneau locking process work ... thanks for you help - I'll keep looking on the forum as well.
