Default 2009 Corvette Speaker crackle

Am I the only one who has a speaker crackle in the passenger side door of the corvette? Has anyone had the same problem and any tips on fixing it?

Might be time to replace the speaker. Have an audio specialty shop take a look.

Sounds like the door speaker is blown.

If it the large speaker more than likely the cone has separated from the voice coil. Might not be completely off but water runs in the door and across the back of the speaker causing the delamination. I took both mine out of my 2013 that is garages and has seen limited rain. Water from frequent washing does it. I cleaned the area of rust and applied shoe goo and let it dry overnight no more cackle or buzzing when bass hits and I have cranked it up to test no issues.

I just upgraded both the speakers in the door with Rockford Fosgate components and the speakers behind the seats with Kickers. www.crutchfield.com is where I order everything. They are really good about wiring harnasses and such.

Also, taking off the door panels is not the easiest to do - especially alone. I'd suggest having someone help you while you lay under to line up the pins and such. Good youtube videos out there on how to remove too. Oh, and each door is different due to the handles. There are 2 torx screws in each door - on the passenger, one is hidden behind the door release button!

Good luck!

My problem is that occasionally the right door speaker just goes "out" (no sound), then, after a while, it comes back on. Still have sound from left side. I've assumed must be a loose wire, either in door or on back of radio. But could this water problem you refer to be my problem? Don't have the crackle that OP refers to. Or, are the speakers just wearing out as others have mentioned.

I have dealt with a lot of bose speakers and the large speakers in the doors are poor quality at best Too many what ifs in this case for you but wiring connections are the best place to start. I changed my head unit and what a difference. if I decide to keep this car much longer I will replace the speakers. They are adequate right now.
