Check my painted calipers!
Hey folks,
I have been working on upgrading my base brakes to Z51. I just finished cleaning and painting one set of calipers!
My process:
I think they came out fantastic!!
After cleaning, right before painting
After all coats of paint
In the oven!

My process:
- Brake cleaner, stainless steel brush, 100 grit sandpaper block, and finish in dishwasher
- Light coat of chapstick on Corvette letters, allowing paint to be easily removed
- VHT caliper paint, following the instructions on the can/YouTube video (two light coats and one medium coat; I did a few extra sprays for touch up, too)
- Bake in oven at 200 degrees for one hour
- Remove paint off Corvette letters
I think they came out fantastic!!

chap stick on letters? really?? that is very interesting! how thick did you have to apply it?
I was just thinking about doing mine in RED because I'm getting new wheels and want it to stand out.
How hard is it to bleed the system when you re-install?
how long did it take ?
I thought i could do this while I'm getting tires mounted on new wheels since I'd have them all off anyway

One or two passes with the chaptstick; be sure to remove the excess globs off the edges of the letters! The paint adheres to the chapstick, but the chapstick peels off very easily!
As for bleeding the system... I don't know. I will cross that bridge in a few weeks!

You bleed them as if you are flushing brake system fluid all around. Plenty of "How to flush brake system" procedures on CF.

Thanks for all the positive feedback, everyone!
Once I put these new ones on, I will likely sell my old ones and paint them a VHT available color of the buyer's choosing!!
