Why? I was big into bikes for 7 years, my luck finally ran out and I almost died. After four days in ICU and a week at home, I got a pretty good raise when I went back to work. I decided to try airbags, seat belts, crumple zones, and having something over my head. I do miss the bike though, its not the same. My superduke was insanely quick and just more of an experience.

Well you're a helluva lot smarter than me. I started riding in 1970, crashed twice in '72, went through 5 bikes -- no more crashes -- and finally sold the last one in 2015. So it took me 45 years and major neck surgery in 2011, (age-related) to get the message.

I wasn't sure if I could keep away from bikes, but after getting the C6 I forgot all about the bike and sold it the next year. A tangent:
I paid $9,000 for a new Harley in 1988. I sold it 27 years later -- as a rat and 57k miles -- for exactly $4,500. I was hoping to get at least 5k but it didn't happen, but I was happy. I sold it to a guy I know, saw him last fall, and he's lovin' the bike. Still runs great.
Can you imagine if that was a J bike, what the price would be 27 years later?

My current age is 55.
I bought my first C5 at age 40, my second C6 at age 47 and my third C6 at age 54.
I just bought my first Corvette three weeks ago and I’m 65! It’s a 2005 convertible. It was now or never!
I'm 69, bought my first Vette, a 1957, when I was 23. Since then I have owned a total of 20, at least one each of C1, C2, C3,C4, C5, C6, and C7. I currently own a 2006 Monterey Red convertible. Guess my midlife crisis started early.
I'm 73 - first one back when I was 28. Nice to see a home boy - I grew up in Mayodan and moved to my current location from Stokesdale
I am 63 years young. I bought my first 69 Corvette when I was 21. I have owned a C4, 2 C5's and bought my 05 C6 brand new in 05 and still have it. I owned tons of muscle cars just like almost everyone else here and finally got stuck on Corvettes. The next one might be a C7 Z-06 but I am scared of some of the problems with automatics that I read about on the C7's. My C6 has been very dependable with almost 65,000 miles on it now.

2 broken ribs, 2 broken vertebrae, broken shoulder, punctured lung, air bubble in chest and internal bleeding from lacerated liver, adrenal gland, and spleen. Not to mention the road rash. My neck is also all crunchy now which they didn't even address.
Aaaaand, I still have another bike I had two. The other is a 690 Enduro (street legal dirt bike). I don't plan on getting rid of it but I do ride a lot less. I am however done with rockets. The superduke would rip a fourth gear power wheelie at 110 and apparently I don't have enough sense to realize I shouldn't do that. That's not what got me though, was a simple tank slapper at interstate speeds. Something I had survived numerous times before without incident, but it somehow progressed beyond recoverable and tossed me off.
25 Years old, bought it at 23. Track it/autocross often. Drive it whenever possible. Have a background in quick cars. Don't need to be retired or rich to own one!
It gets parked in the garage year round, while the 2017 Malibu takes the brunt of the weather outside.
I'm 45 now and have a cyber grey 2010 GS coupe and love it! My first Vette was a 1989 C4 vert, white with white top and red leather, got it when I was 28; kept it about a decade. Have always loved Vettes. Like the C6 better than the C4, but wished I still had it too.....both were/are not daily drivers and both had/have low miles.
I'm 32 now, first vette, bought when I was 31. Gets garaged 5 months out of the year due to Ohio winter. Don't fit in anything older than a C6 but I'd love a C3. C6&C7 are very tight fit for me, but I make it work.
Old age and treachery always overcomes youth and skill
Bought mine for my 60th birthday but I've always had sports cars and motorcycles.
Should mention that we had two '84 C4 test cars at work for a couple of years that I could takeon weekends. Nothing like running hard in a car you don't have to maintain & insure!
I could never afford a decent one until I was 60. I could have bought 'well used' versions along the way but i didn't want a bad ownership experience to spoil things for me later when I could get a good one. It was worth the wait.
I'm 46 and on my 2nd GS Vert and loving every minute of it....I'm not prejudiced when it comes to a particular corvette, but a c6 vert.....BEAUTIFUL!!!!
