Default Wiper Cowls - paint or replace?

Should I paint, or replace?

If paint, what product do you recommend?

Looks to be numbers 9 and 10 at this link.

Before you replace have you tried Aerospace 303 on them? Mine look new with 303 on them.

I haven't tried anything yet! Is that a paint or a refurbishing compound? Need I remove the cowls to apply?

No need to remove anything. It works! Back to black works too!

If it were me, I'd replace the cowl, and treat the new one with the Adams trim protectant so you don't have to worry about doing it again.

I am skeptical of these plastic "rejuvenation" products, though...

They actually do work, and provide decent protection to extend the life of the exposed plastics. I've been using them for years.

It sounds like the Adam's product you are touting protect the plastic, while the others (Back-to-Black, etc.) rejuvenate.

Correct?

Ok, great!

Forgive my redundancy...

It is clear that you endorse Adam's brand. Do you endorse Back-to-Black as a reasonable alternative or temporary fix, instead of buying new trim?

If the Adams is really that good why replace the cowl??

I think he is saying that he would start fresh by buying new trim, then immediately protect it with Adam's. This is definitely the "quality" way to do it.

I am hesitant to spend the ~$200 on the new parts + whatever Adam's costs... presumably a good buck!

If you want a temporary fix, I'd suggest Adam's VRT. It will restore the plastic to it's original condition, dries quickly, has no sling, and is more waterproof than most other options.

Because it's better to start with a clean slate. Keep in mind that my car is a show car, and I don't skimp when it comes to making it look it's absolute best. If my cowl were that damaged, I would replace it and do everything I could to make sure it never happened again.

you won't need to replace it, if you clean it properly before applying the coating to the clean surfaces

I also vote for Back to Black. I just used it on my wiper cowls this Spring. It really made a difference for me.
