Hello all, I’m a c5 owner thinking seriously about going to a C6 grand sport. Just curious about what everyone thinks in regard to the impact of the C8 coming out. Will the C6 take a big hit? Will there be a glut of C7s on the market?
The C6 I have in mind is a 2012 GS centennial addition with 19k miles.

My opinion is that prices will soften on C7 and C6 - pretty much happens as a matter of course as the models years age and are replaced by newer technology/models.
Thumbs up on wanting to get a 2012 GS centennial edition......I love mine and get alot.of.compliments.....good luck!!!
I had two c5's , a 2000 FRC , 6 speed, then a 2002 supercharged Z06 6 speed , and now a modded 2011 grand sport and its by far the best car ive ever had
Huge step up frm the C5 in every way , go for it you wil be so happy
As a CE GS owner, go for it. The C8 isnt going to touch prices on them.
First of all, we dont even know when they will be on sale or what they will cost. It's likely to represent a significant price increase. Further more, the expected midengine layout will turn off a lot of buyers. Then figure the dealer markups that will be common for a year or so, and limited availability.
You're not going to see a price change from the announcement and the car you're looking at will be gone by then. Plus cars as unique and collectible just dont take depreciates hits the way the more common cars will.
I don't think prices will be affected much.
There are already a lot of used C7 for sale.
The CE GS you are looking at is a sweet car.
I have been watching C6 GS for a few months, if you find a good GS priced right you better move fast most of them don't last long. I missed out on an IOM GS when I wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger and it sold quick, I have seen several others in different colors do the same since.

It will have a big impact on me personally. I will be shifting from a breakfast burrito with orange juice for breakfast in the mornings, to a donut and latte.
Seriously though. You are buying an American sports car, not an investment. If you want to buy an investment, the C6 GS shouldn't be on your list unless it is the first or last serial number AND is a one owner with less that 100 miles on the odo.
Oh yeah, I'm starting to rethink the latte thing and sticking with orange juice.
Just recently bought my GS and could have bought some pretty nice C7’s for near what I paid. But the C6 is my fave and that includes what I have seen of the C8. That one will have to grow on me a while I think. Until then, enjoying the heck out of my C6.

I have a 04 CE coupe and I picked up a I o m gs vert in April. It was a deal and a half.
I was going to sell the 04. Not so sure now. May keep both. C8 May not impact prices
for a couple years because it is such a radical change.
If GS hasn't been driven, drive it.
C6 in any trim is an incredibly competent platform w/ comfort, styling and performance in one package.
Much different than C3 & 4, for RWD C6 is hard to beat.
C6s kept in prime condition retain value because of what it does,
Unlikely C6 ends-up in the hands of youngsters, a plus IMO.
C6 represents a nice chunk of change to an average owner, that type takes care of 'em accordingly.
C8 OTOH is a BIG gamble on Mary's part. Huge.
IF Corvette dies as often 'predicted', C8 will be the reason, if only due to sales #s.
C8 better be more than exceptional, I for one am hoping it succeeds.
Nonetheless, C6 depreciation should remain reasonable because of what C6 is.

Even then most of us on this forum wont likely live long enough to see it appreciate in value.
The C8 is so far out there in price I don't see it affecting C6's all that much. From what I read, C8's will be over the 100K mark. It could even drive up C6 prices a bit as most people won't be able to afford the C8, thus keeping the market solid for 6's. I think 7's may also jump if people don't bight on the mid engine look and redesign.
I don't have a GS but still, I bought a '06 3LT Z51 one owner (bought through the Corvette museum) with very low mileage that was very well maintained and glad I did. I love this car. To me no doubt the C6 of any type is the best looking of all years since the C2 . I don't see the C6 dropping much if any unless it's a car that hasn't been taken car of.
