No cause or reason for the clock issue, no known fix. My '07 clock randomly came back after being off for two months due to battery replacement. Some say military based satellite reboot is not compatible with the software that runs the clock and some navigation systems, who knows? Lots of theories.
I am never expecting to see a clock on my '05 ever again.
See post 3 in this thread for a link to post by the Denso engineer explaining that the fix has been completed and verified and will be posted by GM as a free download soon.
Is the update or fix available from a GM dealer or what is needed to fix my 05's clock?
The old 05 nav update used to be a disc that you could burn that you used to reflash, but will bank that this flash will be part of ac/delco TDS instead.
So if you have something like a Tech II device, should be able to get a TDS account for $40 to SPS re-flash the radio yourself.
Hence every time dealers go to reflash something, your looking at about a $170 charge each time, and would still be cheaper to get a Nano and subscription to do it yourself instead.
Hell, if the file is a VCI file, then could just use Tis2000, plug in the VCI number for Tis2000 to pull it down from GM, and Bob is your uncle for free instead.
Could be worse than just a clock out. I test drove two '14 Z51s before I got the GS. First one had a crazy flicker and electronic interference on the screen. The second had the screen stuck in the down position. So yeah, be thankful for what you have. Oh, but I hear the C8 clocks are kinda neat-o.
