Looking at having the windows tinted in my C6 Coupe. Sent a message to my guy that I typically use and he said that he can't do the backglass on the C6. I guess due to the angles.
Has anyone else ran into this when having the windows tinited in the C6? If you have any pictures of just the side windows tinited and not the rear galss can you post them? Or if you have any where the sides and rear glass are tinited please post. Looking at somewhere between 35%-20%.
Side and rear windows tinted. It was done by the previous owner. I think it's 20%. Rear hatch can be tinted, it's just more difficult to do and get right.

A lot of places will not do it because of the dots up top. It's pretty tough to get the tint to come out well as the dots are extremely tough to work around and get the tint to lie flat. Mine came out pretty good, but not perfect. Better than most for sure, but I can still see some areas in the dots that just never did lay down right. I think that my guy did the best he could so I'm ok with it. You'll have to go into it knowing that if they are willing to put in the time and even attempt it, it's probably not going to come out perfect no matter what your tinter does or how much time he/she puts into it.
After getting a high estimate shop owner told me they charge more because it usually takes two attempts to do the back glass. I just did my side windows with a light tint.
I contacted several people and asked if they had done C6s before.
It will become very obvious if someone has and can tint the rear windshield on your car.
Contact some prospects first, don't show up expecting any shop to be able to.
Mine was done 12 years ago in Marina Ca. The DOT matrix is what they worry about, my guy painted the matrix it looks like it came from the factory that way, all of you that got an excuse from your shop, need to find another shop as I don't think their competent enough to do the side window's. "Sir we gladly boil your lobster, but we will not poach it, because it's hard" I did pay $300 for it but you can't tell it's tint. he would have done the sides also but I didn't want them done it was the ceramic tint. they shape it on the outside of the window with a heat gun.
Find another tint guy if he can't do it. Had mine done the day after I bought mine and it still looks great. It can be done, some tint places don't like to do it because of the rear defrost 'screen'. If not done right it, it will look like crap; fortunately, I found a place in Las Vegas that had done several and had a great rep. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the place.
I found my tint guy in the Southern California section of this forum. Not sure where you live, but go into the other forums here and find your area and ask for some local advise. I did that when I bought my car and at least 10 guys posted the same shop. Makes it a lot easier to find a shop that has done other Corvettes who live near you
Find a local Corvette club or two and find out where they recommend. The shop I have used for 5 different cars, and who has nothing but exotics shown on their website told me they couldn't guarantee a good job on the rear window. That was disappointing & I reached out to a big Corvette group and asked who they used, contacted them & they told me they would add a black vinyl strip to the dot matrix to cover that area and then tint the rest with a satisfaction guarantee. I think I was quoted $360 for all 3 windows. I haven't gotten it done yet because my car already has tint & I rarely drive it.
An experienced professional will be able to do it. I used a shop near me that has rave reviews for years for doing auto windows and in home glass. When I've had vehicles tinted in the past, they were done very quickly. When I called this shop and told them what I had, they asked me to bring it in the morning and leave it so they could take their time due to the rear window, but they certainly did not say they couldn't do it. It is a difficult window to do, not only due to the curves, but also because of the way you'd have to access it to apply the tint. I left it at the shop at 8:30 in the morning and the called me and told me it was ready around 2:30 in the afternoon. No idea if it took them that long - I doubt it did, but it came out fine.

Had mine done over 10 years ago, the top portion of the glass( on the outside) is black vinyl> the lower portion is tint on the inside. You can not tell when looking through rear view mirror.
Agree with all the other comments....find someone who knows what they are doing. I did 20% all the way around, including a strip/visor on the windshield (I do the same on all my vehicles, first thing I do when I get one is have tint installed). It looks a little darker in this pic because I have the sunshade in there while it was parked in this parking lot (was running an errand and snapped a pic of it just cuz it looked so freakin good!).
