Default Grinding noise from rear, need help!

Whats up everyone, my name is Jason,

I purchased a 2011 Grand Sport 3LT a few months ago with 40K miles on it. A couple of days ago i started noticing a strange noise that seems to be generating from the rear. The best way i can describe it is a dull grinding/rattling noise. It only makes the noise at idle, as soon as i hit the accelerator the noise seems to disappear. The noise changes slightly between reverse, drive, and neutral. I included a sound file of the noise to make it easier to potentially identify. Any input would be appreciated!

The torque tube bearings have been reported to make the noise you are describing.

After reading that sounds like it could be the cause which doesn’t sound very good. Wasn’t expecting a 2-3 grand repair job only 3 months into owning the car . I’m in Virginia Beach, anyone know of any good repair shops in the area that won’t be as pricey as the dealership?

Why don’t you ask any corvette club members in your area who they use for mechanical repairs. I googled Virginia Beach car clubs and there are a few. Good luck

I'm in Williamsburg , I found that ZIP in Mechanicsville has been great on quite a few items purchased and they installed . They also do work solving other issues at a very reasonable price. (much less $ than dealers and they only work on vettes)

Did you ever find the source of the squeak?
