Default Door will not open

2007 C6. Drivers door pad would occasionally have to be pressed several times to open. Saw the video on cleaning the contacts, so I took them apart, cleaned and reinstalled. Drivers door now works like new, but now passenger door will NOT open at all. Light turns red, window lowers slightly but door will not unlatch. Why?

Try re-indexing the window and see if that works it out. Otherwise use the emergency release and make sure the pad assembly was re-installed, hooked up properly.

Re-indexing the windows did nothing. So I removed the passenger door switch again, opened it up and it looks fine. I then unhooked the battery cables (cleaned them and the terminals) and let it sit a few minutes...then re-installed the battery cables. No change.

Along with the newly cleaned exterior door switch, the interior door button no longer opens the door. When pressed, it starts making the windows re-index....up down up down..the only way it will stop indexing is to press the door lock. (I thought this was a computer glitch, thus the reason I unhooked the battery...but it still does it).

As stated initially: both passenger door switches were working fine, before I took the exterior one apart to clean it.

Anyone have any additional suggestions to try?

Did you re-index the windows after disconnecting the battery cables?

Re-indexed prior to and again after disconnecting battery. No change.

I can hear a clicking sound (up under dash?) as if a relay is sticking or something? Any thoughts on a relay/control that might have malfunctioned?

Since it started when you messed with the door pad, let's start there. Are the driver and passenger pads interchangeable? if so, swap them and see if the problem follows the pad.

Or, the battery is low.

wouldn't explain why the driver door opens and the window goes up and down continuously until he presses the lock button. Has enough battery for those then he has enough to open the passenger door.

The clicking behind the dash is from the fob transmitter. Clicking means that it is working correctly. Silly question, but are all plugs back in tight from the pad removal?

This is really a puzzling event for me. I have worked on cars since I was 15 Y.O., that's 50+ years of experience...this is my first Corvette.

I think the exterior door switches are exclusive to the right or left side..but I may be wrong. They certainly are a very simple design and are not able to be re-assembled incorrectly, and being a printed circuit-board style, I see nothing there to fail? But I have removed and examined it...three times now. And the wiring and door plug are undamaged.

Is there a child's safety lock on a Corvette's passenger door that has somehow been engaged, preventing the inside button from operating? Even if that is true, it would not explain why the outside release will not open the door.

The battery is one year old, I drive the car several times a month, no issue with the battery at all. I guess I will unhook it and start over by re-indexing the windows, since that seems to be the only "mechanical" suggestion that has been offered?

After that, off to the dealer I guess and pay the price.

I would at least buy a new door opener pad before taking it to the dealership. I think they are under $20.00.

I have a 2011 GS with 19,000 miles on it.

I had the same problems you have. Cleaning the contacts did not help with mine, so I just replaced the door pads with new ones .... works perfectly now.

BTW ... these door pads are cheap and the left and right side use the same P/N

Replacing the exterior door switch cured the problem.
Still scratching my head over how such a simple device can fail. Perhaps unplugging it from the harness somehow caused one of the pins to fail at the printed circuit board connection? Anyway, thanks for the good advice.

One of the traces was probably broken or shorted. Glad you got it fixed!

it failed because the part was supplied by the lowest bidder
