I know there are several threads and how-tos on here about replacing the lower seat foam. After looking through a lot of them I still haven't found an answer for my particular question.I see where a few have placed a thin plastic panel between the foam and the wires to keep them from cutting into the foam but has anyone successfully been able to get the jute pad in without removing the seat covers and foam? After seeing where a few have lost their heated seat function after removing the foam and knowing how my luck is.I'm kind off intimidated to attempt it.It looks doable but just curious if this is an option.
There isn't a way to get the jute pad in without removing the foam. I redid my seats including transferring the heating pad from the old foam to the new. It's not that difficult to do. It's just a heating pad that's been glued to the foam. Just disconnect the wire going to it, peel it off carefully, and using 3M upholstery glue transfer it to the new foam. Once you have it in place plug it back in and you're done.
Thanks for the reply!I don't plan on changing the foam so maybe I won't have any issues with the heater.Just apprehensive when it comes to this type of work.Seems easy enough but that has got me in trouble before!

How long did it take you Ed to do just the driver's seat?

The heating pad took about 10 minutes. Stripping the entire seat down took about 30 minutes including the time it took to get the seat out of the car. Putting the new seat skins on even after letting them sit in the Texas sun for a couple of hours.......somewhere around 3+ hours. Doing both seats took about 8 hours; most of which was spent working the new leather covers over the brand new foam. The seat base was easy. It was the backs that took the majority of the time because I didn't want them to look all wrinkled like I see so many on here after a new install, and working brand new stiff leather skins over brand new foam is a bitch.
These are the seats a couple of days after install. They've since tightened up to a perfect fit as many on this forum can attest to.
