Default Back-up Camera

Has anyone installed a wireless back-up camera on their Corvette? If so, does it work as advertised, and is it worth the money? The installation seems pretty straightforward, but where would placement of the monitor be most effective. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Bronk

I literally just got done installing a cheap backup camera from Amazon and mating it to a headunit I got on crutchfield. It works amazingly and has brought the whole car forward 15 years. If you're willing to spend the money for a wireless one, get a cheap head unit and a wired cam instead from crutchfield. If you do the "pre wired" assembly option for $25 with them the installation is super easy. I'll be making a full DIY on it maybe tomorrow.

Great info and thanks. I will be looking forward to your install. I don't have navigation so I have to consider options for placement of the monitor. Thanks again!

I did this in September and it does change the car. I also wired in a front camera for parking the car. Its amazing how long the front of these cars are. Really helps in parking also puts the car in the correct spot when parking in the garage. I have a small 2 car garage and not much room. This puts it in the same spot every time. Also bought from Crutchfield and got the pre wired harness. Pretty much plug and play this way.

Yes and yes. I got my parts from Best Buy and coupled the back up camera with a Kenwood HU. I have a vert so it really improved visibility while backing up.

I'm in the process of installing a new head unit also. The read camera is in. How did you route the wires for the front camera? Also, where did you take power from?

Thanks

I saw one or two at Costco, one was built into the license plate frame. Didn’t really check was just looking around and saw it.

Thanks
The front camera wiring has a small red wire along in the wiring. I kept this and brought it into the car and am using a 12v+ lead if. I remember right it was the cig lighter for power. I grounded it out in the engine compartment to the frame. Mine is actually in the center of the license plate, Nj requires a front plate. I ran it along the drivers side frame and tucked it by the windshield and into the car. I read it somewhere on the forum about the routing and followed their wiring. You just have to be a little creative.
