HELP!! Shift cable replaced misaligned shifter
So I’ve recently found out that the issue many C6 owners have encountered regarding the shifter cable linkage becoming brittle and breaking off..I went ahead and bought the shift cable and it was installed however when I shift down all the gears seem to engage okay but when I shift up from DRIVE it moves very easily to N but remains in DRIVE, shift up to R and it shifts to NEUTRAL, shift up to PARK and in between REVERSE and PARK is REVERSE and pushing it up all the way is PARK, a little extra effort is needed to fully engage in park. I spoke to the mechanic and he claims the cable could be defective, the car is drive-able but I want it back to normal. Any ideas what this could be or did the mechanic do a shifty job installing the new cable? I want to be able to confront him if it was his error. PLEASE HELP!
