replace master cylinder
Any information would be appreciated but here is a basic rundown of what I think the procedure would be.
1. protect the area with paper towels or rags.
2. remove as much fluid from the resevoir as possible
3. disconnect electric sensor from resevoir
4. disconnect two lines from master cylinder
5. remove master cylinder from booster
6. prime new master cylinder, I assume instructions for this will come with new unit
7. install new unit in reverse order of removal
8. fill with new brake fluid and bleed brakes
Please correct me if I'm wrong or left anything out.
I have ordered a new master cylinder and it is due to arrive Wed. the 25th so I will not get to this until next weekend. I will post my results after I get it done.
By the way, the fluid leaked onto the exhaust manifold so after I stopped because the pedal was squishy smoke was coming out from under the hood.
Open the hood and a small fire was looking right at me. I was able to just blow the small flame out but it was scary. No damage except the hood liner did get a bit scorched.
Thanks in advance.
