For me personally I’m ok either the “risk”. The way I see it In an accident not only will my head move but so will my body. I’m not looking to strap myself to the seat. I plan to have at least a inch or two between myself and the belt most the time. My head will move no matter the restraints. I have seen harnesses bars that allow you to keep the factory belt which I like simply because I don’t need to remove and store them. (Not that i plan to use it) The reason for my post was mainly to see if anyone knew where to find them at not a ridiculous price. I do appreciate everyone’s input/concern however.
Having first hand knowledge of this...there is nothing wrong with 4/5/6 pt harnesses for street use. I wrecked my Mustang (hit a wall head on a 53 mph) and the harnesses (just a 4 pt) did their job just fine. I didn't even have a stiff neck. The ONLY damage I received was a burn on my forearm from the airbag deploying. My passenger just had a burn on her chin from the airbag as well. Healed completely in 3-4 days. OP go for it and don't look back.

Thanks for sharing, this is interesting. Glad to hear you were ok, I remember when I totaled my first gto my head was loose, but not so bad that it would cause any problems, just loose some..
Also I could see how if strapped in real tight your head is like a bobble head lol, on the other hand some space between you and the harness will theoretically provide the 'give' for your entire body to react as one unit per say. this would technically closely represent what you would see on the street with stock seat belts hmm.
In a conventional setup your body moves with your head in harnesses your body doesn't move
You are also not hitting a concrete wall, in a solid tube frame car, at 200mph, while also supporting the added weight of a helmet... so gain... what's your point...

when your in a 4 point harness or more the setup is expected to work in conjunction with other safety equipment. thats why you race with helmets and harnesses.and hans gloves and fire suits. unless you plan to wear a helmet on the street harnesses are a bad idea. as for hitting a wall if you think every street accident is a 55 Ipoh tap your mistaken hitting a center barrier made of solid concrete at 70-80 mph will do some serious damage. you can argue this all you want. if nhsta or any of the major manufacturers thought it was safer to have a 4 point harness in a street car it would be there. fact is it isn't.
I have said my peace on this subject. hell run a full roll cage on the street its a perfect to crack a thick skull in a vette since its barely behind your head and just above it. good luck and goodbye
