yeah, i agree with this sentiment.... but it sure sounded like they wanted the business from the OP's statement:

"I told him to take my car off the lift. He then said the rear suspension is under tremendous pressure and can only be released by a special tool only Chevy dealers have .Once that is done the wheels will be out of alignment."

if they really didn't want to do the work, they probably would have just dropped the car and let it roll on out...

I suspect that wasn't exact chronological order, and likely involved someone a bit more out of the loop. A service manager VS the techs for example. It sou ds like the kinda bs a manager makes up to justify a higher quote.

Oh no. This was a total scam. It was Friday afternoon and guys were standing around. When I told them to take my car off the lift and I was leaving, the service manager said the job required a special tool that only dealers have. He was trying to tell me they were the only place in town that could do the job.

I installed my 2009 Corsa (and also a Borla) exhaust by myself on a QuickJack and it is pretty straightforward. I don't know if there is any different for a Grand Sport but I don't think so. I originally took it to a Meineke muffler shop where the manager had his "best guy" working on it. After a few hours, he couldn't figure out how to get the exhaust on and said it probably was not the correct model (after I assured him it was).
He put the original exhaust back on and I went home and did it myself. Here is the video if you want to do it yourself.

I'm not sure this is what is happening here but as a former install tech at best buy I had to chuckle at this....... Chevy Caprice..... I used to over quote the hell out of these because I just didn't want the hassle. You have to pull the whole dash off

Just trick some of your buddies to come over for some beers in the garage, and surprise them with helping you install these lol. Or they could be like my friends and just sit there drinking beer while I curse at my car.
