I bought a Corsa Xtreme system for my 2011 Grand Sport over the winter. I just dropped it off at the Chevy dealer for an install and they call me back an hour later. He said, "You better come down here." It is up on the lift and he shows me the pipes and says they have to drop the rear suspension to get them off. Once the sway bar is off they will then have to do a rear wheel alignment. "It'll be a 5 1/2 hour long job." ...!? This is about a 45 minute job with a lift, isn't it? I knew I was going to pay too much at the dealership but I didn't expect criminal behavior.
BS. Go get your car. The sway bar has to be unbolted with the 4 bolts and swings down out of the way. No alignment needed. The pipes will wiggle out from the rear. When you install the Corsa do the drivers side first and after everything is in align then tighten all clamps.

Absolutely correct. You can do this work yourself. It's a fun little nothing project.
They are taking advantage of you... I had this exact procedure done to my 2012 GS in Jun 2019... I bought a Corsa Xtreme and an X-Pipe and had it installed. My invoice is for $155.59 from my local speed shop garage. There is absolutely no need to drop the rear suspension. Even the instructions in the Corsa box says how to do the install. Only the rear sway bar needs to be removed (or maybe just dropped a little lower, can't remember exactly). From my invoice, it looks like it took them about 1.5 - 1.75 hours ($76.95/hour for a total of $130).
Get your car back and bring it somewhere else.

I told him to take my car off the lift. He then said the rear suspension is under tremendous pressure and can only be released by a special tool only Chevy dealers have .Once that is done the wheels will be out of alignment. Oh boy. I'd like to believe it was incompetence but he was just an awful liar. I can see guys doing this in their garage on YouTube without a magic Chevy tool in sight!!
I'll add that I did a Corsa exhaust in my garage on jack stands. I did a "cat back" exhaust which meant that I needed to cut the OE (over the axle) pipe for removal because I did not have enough room to "swing" the pipe which is welded to the muffler in the space I had. IMHO, except for cutting the OE pipe, the whole process takes easily less than 2 hours DIY after the car is in the air.
The Corsa system (I installed the larger "sport" system) does not need the clearance mentioned and is just a fit, adjust and bolt together.
Lesson learned here. Do not ever let the dealership work on your car unless it’s a warranty service. Let alone a simple axle back install or even an oil change.
I installed longtubes, x-pipe & Corsa Xtreme in my garage on jack stands in about 4 hours. And a good bit of that time was making sure the exhaust tips all lined up.
Thanks, guys! I knew I was being bent over but I wanted to know how badly. I just went to a local muffler shop. He looked over the instructions and said it will take him an hour or so. I just can't believe the service manager could look me in the eye and keep telling bald-faced lies like that. Well. I'm never going back to them.

I had mine installed at Corvettes@Carlisle last year. They dropped the x-pipe to make things easier for them on the axle back replacement. Start to finish for 2 guys was 34 minutes. Installation labor was free - included with the purchase of the exhaust, and that cost me way less than buying it elsewhere.
In 2015, I had my Borla S Type II installed at Corvettes at Carlisle. It had to be less then 40 minutes! Free install when you purchase it then and there.
Also, ARH were there and they had a great deal on their Headers...Install their Headers and get it tuned free!

155.59 is a good deal. I put mine on myself, but for this price, it wouldn't be worth crawling under car.

We did similar in car audio installs when people would come in with problem jobs. Weird stuff, stuff we didn't really do, etc. Saying no rarely goes over well, people get mad and yell and management won't agree to saying no. So you over quote, providing the option to the customer but dissuading them from going through with it. It works out better. That is likely what happened here. Rather than risk fallout from doing an a nor. AL job, or the pr nightmare if someone essential can't get their work done while they play arou d on a sports car, they just push you off.

What you should do is once it's done from your local muffler shop is go back to the dealer, and talk to the Service Manager's manager... total scam if you ask me. I go to Corvettes@Carlisle every summer, and I bet hundreds of exhausts are replaced over the weekend.
