Default Cup Wheels ?

I just bought a 2009 ZR1.It has chrome wheels. I would love to put a set of the OEM Satin Cup Wheels on it but I've seen that the cup wheels have been cracking and that GM doesn't stand behind its OEM wheels. No warranty. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

The original GM ones from the c6 gen didn't have the same cracking issues. They were also supposedly forged, and were a lot less common. The C7 ones seem to Crack and bend a lot, supposedly due to being cast. I wouldn't buy cup wheels anymore., just my opinion.

Thanks for the feed back. That's too bad. I had them on my zo6. I really liked them. My wheel dealer acknowledged the problems with the cup wheels. He also claimed that the c7 zr1 wheels are flow formed or flow forged and haven't had a single issue. I'm not really sure that I like them though. Do you know anything about them?

I have a set of aftermarket cup wheels that I haven't had any issues with. You might see about going that route if you can't find the C6 gen wheels.

There apparently is at least one class action lawsuit started against GM for this issue....see here.... https://kehoelawfirm.com/active-inve...te-grand-sport

this is for C7’s. Not C6. There’s been no issues with the c6 cups.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll find any C6 cup wheels anymore. I did see a vendor on here making a forged wheel that looks just like the cup wheels but a little more concave - which looks very good. I don’t remember the price being too outrageous either.

Got a photo, like to see them on the car as well. And just to confirm, they are all forged? Just noticed they still have an AOL email address.

So I bought a set of C6 Cup wheels off of a 427 Vert. Got them powder coated and had them for 1.5 yrs on my car no issues. I decided to go back to the OEM ZR1 chrome wheels. The rims are stamped Speedline and also stamped Mexico. I'm getting ready to sell these. Were there any problems with the Speedlines made for the C6 in Mexico? I'd like to know because one buyer backed out because of Mexico stamp. Repeat these are not C7 Cups.

I'm pretty sure all the C6 Cup wheels were made in Italy, not Mexico. I had C6 Cup wheels from a 427 vert on my previous '13 GS, and they were definitely made in Italy. Are you sure the wheels were OE on the 427 vert or was it possibly a replacement set he'd put on?

I looked it up and they did come on the 427 Vert. They had silver faces and gray on inside of spokes when I got them. They are stamped Speedline and Mexico as well....

The C6 wheels are not an issue...it's the C7 wide body wheels that have the bending/cracking problems
