Hello all and thanks in advance for your answers. I bought a 05 convertible, pretty much spec’d out. Two questions, first, both sunvisors are messed up. Both doors are gone and wires cut to keep the light from coming on. I looked into replacing them and there is a hundred dollar difference between the driver side with the garage door opener opp. Which I have. Can I use one without the extra buttons. Second when I put the top down and the last move when the tonnele cover closes, it needs a little help to grab and then it pulls down on its own. Thanks again
It's a 15 year old car. How many prior owners did it have and what's the car mileage?
I am the second owner. It had 95k on it, now 100k. I paid 11 k for it and needed tires and some plastic under the front besides the 2 things I mentioned in my post.

Sunvisors, especially on a convertible, are somewhat fragile after being cooked in the sun. Seems like you bought the car right...let it go.
Wires cut to the vanity light make sense unless you are going to replace everything.
My '05 had a manual top. My '11 has a power top. I prefer the manual top. Adjustments are everything if you have the know how.
Last, plastic under the front end is likely the air dam. Built to be destroyed. Easily replaced.
You bought the car right. Don't over think it.

I can't answer about common, but they are not inevitable.
My '05 with over a quarter of a million miles has neither of those problems. But then again I've had very few of the "common" problems, and many that few have reported here.
If they bother you, then replace the visors, and figure out why the pull-down latch is not performing correctly.
I wouldn't say either or common issues. But that's why you got that car for c5 money, it's run down and needs work on it. Still a great buy, just gotta be prepared to spend the money and time to fix it.
You might check with Corvette salvage. He sells some replacement visors that are much cheaper than the stock ones. They look slightly different but if your are replacing both no one would know the difference.

this is my 3rd corvette. I had an 82 and a 96. Both times this forum helped me with issues on them. I am pretty handy, just looking to see if others had this same problems. Thanks
Looks like a great car for the money. Those items that need repair are minimal since you didn't pay too much for the car and should be able to drive it for a long time and not lose very much money. I would get the items repaired correctly but I could probably live with the top problem but the visors would drive me crazy. I only have 67,000 miles on my 05 C6 and have done almost nothing to the car since new other than tires and fluid changes and a couple of recalls.
So, one guy told him his car is run down and the other said he bought the wrong car because of bad visors and a latch needs adjusting. Wow. Am I in the right forum?
I bought an 07 coupe a couple of weeks ago. Passenger sun visor mirror cover was broken - had dealer replace - done and fine. Latch for glove box is also broken - dealer to replace that as well. From things I've seen on the forum these are fairly common issues. I am lucky dealer is fitting the bill even though these things are minor.

Ok, so I see I missed a few replies due to work schedule. I see you have to be careful what questions you ask on here. It opens the door to remarks like “bought the wrong car” and “it’s run down”. These are not answers but opinions. These you can keep to yourself. I feel I bought the right car for me. I want to say thank you very much the all the people that did help, as to date. The correct visors are on order and I managed the make the adjustments to the pull down.
